Have any of you with any real Benchmade experience had any problems with omega Springs such as breakage??

I have read a lot of horror stories and seen some videos on this topic, but from my experience no, breakage was never an issue. I carried a 710 for about seven years, before I knew anything about proper maintenance, never had any issues and STILL got my money back when I finally sold it, battered and used, here on the forums.

They are not going to break under normal use. Just get one. If an issue does arise just call Benchmade.

I've never had a problem with them. I only have one BM folder left, a 530, but its been beat up heavily and no issues yet.

I've not had any issues. To me, BM's are still the smoothest opening knives right out of the box.

I've owned and used a bunch through the years and never had an omega spring problem.

Guess I'm in the minority, had the omegas break on a mini grip, had a friend have them break on his mini grip too. But I had a 527 that's years old and seen a fair amount of use and it hasn't had a single issue so...

Like at spring steels they can fatigue and break, sometimes quicker then expected. Same as assisted open springs, some guys fire theirs for a thousand cycles without issue, some don't make it a hundred.

No, never had an issue, never expect to have an issue. Never heard of anyone I know who carries a Benchmade having an issue. I carry a Griptilian with me all the time, every day, use it a lot, and don't expect any issues.

If something did happen, either to the springs or anything else, Benchmade will fix it for you.

No issues here and I've owned & used numerous different models. I don't doubt the folks who say they've had theirs break on them however it seems these reports are so few and far in between that you shouldn't let it hold you back from giving them a shot.

I cannot say that I have ever had a spring break. I carried and used a combination of a 556 Mini Grip, 710 or TSEK for over a year with no problems. But then again, I don't sit there like some folks and flip my knives open and closed 5,000 times a day. With 2 jobs and a lot of family stuff going on it's sort of a useless endeavor.

Benchmade did in fact fix the knife, though it had to be sent in. They wont ship out any parts unfortunately (except for pocket clips).

I had one of the springs break in my Mini Grip. Lock still functions with one spring but loses the tension.
No problem though! Warranty was painless, maybe a little slow.

I have had two omega springs break, but the beauty of the design is that unless both break the knife will just be easy to unlock. I make fun of Benchmade for a lot of things, but the axis lock is a great design. I just wish they did a different pivot design to make it a lot easier to take apart (with a center tube with screws on both sides, like how the Manix uses). Fix that and the design will be even better. Hell, make the axis bar the same design and then you can easily take the knife apart and get it back together, just as easily as one could a frame lock.

As generous as Benchmade has been with me in sending clips and screws, if they had the same policy on any part one could probably assemble an entire knife. :)

Don't need nor am I asking for them to be willing to ship every part. It'd just be nice if they were willing to ship little things like the springs.

Would have saved BM and me both time and money if they were willing to ship them.
