Finally saw one of these beasts at a mall knife shop of all places. I asked to look at it and was amazed by its overall size. The handle is thicker than my Busse Steel Heart E, and nowhere as comfy. I didn't even try to put it in my pocket. No doubt, it's a rugged knife, but my question is who carries one of these regularly?
What do you use it for?

Well, I don't carry one of the Buck Striders, but I do carry one of the Strider folders religiously. It gets used for absolutely everything like opening boxes, breaking down boxes, cutting cable when I don't have cutters handy, unsheathing cable (yeah, the point is refined enough to actually do it), stripping wire (all I do is round it, and it comes off, I don't actually strip it with the knife so back off :)), lunch knife after wiping down with disinfectant, stress relief toy throughout the day, nail groomer, god you name it the AR does it during the day.

Any new knife I get will get carried for awhile, and that's what's happening with my Buck Strider. My EDC is a Sebenza, so the Buck won't last, but it's fun playing with it for now.

It's big, yes, but it's very comfortable in my hand, very well balanced. The biggest drawback to using it long-term is its size. Around most people, it would attract unwanted attention. On a walk through the woods, it's perfect.

I tried it out in the kitchen, and it works fine, although obviously I have more appropriate knives for slicing and dicing. The hollow grind makes up for the thickness of the back of the blade.

It takes and holds a great edge. Took a while to reprofile: I used my Sharpmaker to give it a thirty degree edge and then a forty degree after that.

After you carry the Buck Strider for a few days it does not seem to be too heavy or uncomfortable. Actually, after a few days use it seems uncomfortable not to have it with you. It has become my favorite security blanket!

Esav-glad to see you still like your Buck Strider as much as I like mine.
