Lol just trolling with the title dw im not starting a flame off or anything. At the 70$ price range there is 3 knives i like that all have 3 companies version of the same kind of lock. Sog spec elite 1 Spyderco manix 2 and benchmade presidio ultra. Out of these 3 knives witch are all similar in size shape function and materials tbh, all a decent steel with plastic handles and all have similar lock. For the like 75 bucks witch one of these is constructed of the best quality.

Brand biased aside. what one is best for that green

they should all have pretty good build quality unless you get a lemon. I'd go with ergonomics and design to choose.

Personally I think you should go with the original axis lock. Not to knock the other two but Benchmade has the design down IMO.

Sounds like your gut wants to go with the SOG, I'd say go for it.

i have a manix before and it was alright but im not a spyderco guy (even tho its not same model im lookin at) and i had a griptilian before and idk benchmade seems to just idk.. how to explain it, what you get for what u pay is just iffy sometimes. I havent really had bad sog experences even with the models ppl say arent that great, i just didnt like them because of the assist opening.

Like some others up above, I have experience with two of your choices, the Manix 2 and the Presidio series. I don't have either one currently, but I'm seriously thinking about adding another 525 to my family. I agree with matt1987 about favoring the AXIS lock over the caged BB or the Arc Lock. I've never liked the feel of Spyderco's BB lock, caged or original style. OTOH, I've never met an AXIS lock I didn't like. The ergos of these two knives are also quite different, in my hand, at least. I've never liked any of the Manix series, original or version 2. They've never fit my hand, my pockets, or any sheath I could find. The 525s I've had have been excellent for carry and far more capable than any use I'm ever likely to give them. IMAO, the Ultras will work as well as the original 520/525 series and they'll address the one thing I don't like about the Presidios... those aluminium handles. I don't like metal handled knives, whether it's aluminium, steel, or titanium.

If I were buying, my choice would be the BM Ultra.

Out of three suggested I would go with SOG. Benchmade Presidio Ultra has got a blade shape that I do not like: otherwise it is a very good knife in my opinion. And yes, I'm talking about Presidio Ultra, not 520! Ultra has got both the shape and the grind that I do not appreciate at all! Manix is fine but a bit too wide both in blade and in handle. SOG is fine: nice shape and the lock that I quite like. So I would definitily go with SOG out of three.

I have the Manix 2 and the Ultra. I find these to be two very different knives. I use the Manix 2 much harder than the Ultra.
Depends on use I guess.
Cheers

The Spec Elite rocks. I was extememly shocked by the quality of it. The Manix is a great knife too. Not too familiar with the Benchmade though.

What it boils down to is what you want the knife for. The Spyderco is a tank. The SOG is a low end sports car, sleek and elegant, but you can find better for a higher price... but it is nowhere near as durable as the Spyderco. The Benchmade is kind of in between, not as sturdy as the Manix, not as elegant as the Spec Elite, but carries a higher price (depends on where you get it, best I could find was close to $100) and uses a lower grade steel.

You can't go wrong with any of them, but I would suggest a full size Grip instead of the Presidio. That makes it a fair fight. But with what you have here, choose between elegance or clunky indestructibility.
