On a good source of reference?

I'll admit, I'm rather new to the world of knives. I have about 20 folders, and I can put a decent edge on them when sharpening. Aside from this and that odd fact, I don't know much else about knives. So the question is, does anyone know of a good book to buy, or website to go to that has all this basic sort of information ready available, possibly with comparisons of different types of metal, knife styles, points, generally just something useful to a new knife enthusiast. Thanks!

True that, I have already learned a lot, there's just some basic things on here that still confuse me that would be nice to have as a frame of reference, such as steel types and blade styles, people reference them, and I sometimes get lost, learning though, slow and steady.

Thanks :)

Maybe someone will link it but there is a google BF search function that will allow you to search anything you want on BF. all the questions you want answers for have been gone over probably 1000 times on this site and if you stick around long enough you'll see some repeats yourself. Here's one sticky that might be of some help. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=368828

You're already there (which, conveniently, is HERE). I think most people who've hung around here for a while have realized how much is available right here on BF. Keep hangin' around, read as much of the thread content as you can, and if you still can't find what you're looking for, just ASK. You'll get LOTS of good advice, so long as you ask nicely :).

Welcome!
