On being the right size

J.B.S. Haldane wrote a well known article in 1926 which I have linked below. While he focuses mostly on Zoology the argument is just as relevant to us in our hobby. You can’t just start with an excellent knife and just expand the design to sword size by making the thing 300% larger. If you did, then the weight and momentum of the larger version would overwhelm the stability of the material from which it is made. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy the short article that I have linked below. I first read this about 45 years ago and it remains one of my favorites.
