What we need is a ON LINE Spyderco Engineer, where we can get Proffesional feedback on our knife problems[ STRAIGHT FROM THR HORESE MOUTH] WITHIN REASONABLE TIME FRAME . YES / NO ???. Faron. JUST A THOUGHT.

Me thinks that the Head Honcho of Spyderco is here on the regular. Me also thinks that if a tech or engineer were here that there is no way that he or she can respond in a timely manner as they would get slammed with emails. If a Spyderco is that BAD? It should be sent back to get the result you may be looking for. Imagine the emails this person would get? Hey engineer, what do U carry? etc. etc. Having Sal here is about as good as you can get ..... it dont get no betterer and that is the final Horses Mouth in my mind. Just my humble opinion, John

First of all, define reasonable time frame. I know that people nowdays seem to think they should be able to get anything they want instantly, but I'm afraid that really isn't possible, much less reasonable.

Second, is this theoretical online engineer to be clairvoyant? I can't think of any other way to analyze a problem you are having without seeing and touching your knife. And if this person is going to be psychic anyway, wouldn't he be contacting you about the problem you are about to have? Just a thought.

Totally unreasonable suggestion. As already mentioned, we already have Sal on here, not to mention a wealth of knowledge from users of Spydercos and other knives. I'd much rather Spyderco pay their engineers to design knives, refine manufacturing processes, and so forth instead of duplicate functions that are already served by Sal and users on the forum.

AFAIK, Spyderco does not have an engineer on the payroll. Assuming I'm correct, then you're suggesting they hire one, thoroughly familiarize him (or her) with their entire product line, and then pay them to answer questions online. Sorry, but I don't see the benefit in that. Especially since most of the legitimate questions asked online can, as Jack noted, only be answered by "please send the knife in for evaluation". The rest are either unanswerable by anyone, or answerable by anyone of average intelligence. Not to mention that, IMHO, legitimate questions which have not already been answered dozens, if not hundreds, of times are few and far between. The biggest problem is that too many people feel they're special snowflakes to whom not only the terms of the warranty, but the laws of physics, do not apply.

Plenty of company participation here. Sal, Kristi, and Joyce are moderators while Eric, Dan, and Michael chime in occasionally.

Thank you all kindly, for your relevent feedback , much appreciated. All the best, Faron.

Thank you kindly for your fair comment Sal. Just trying to think outside the box but this was maybe a little bit too far outside !! I can see that now. Thank you Faron.
