I found a GE 220V motor, 1750 rpm at a pawn shop for $125. There are no holes to mount the motor on a bench. Is this a good deal? How can I tell if it is self enclosed? Will with work for my Coote's grinder? Suggestions on mounting it on a bench?

Thanks again

bloodman, i see harbor frieght ad's for 2hp for under $100.00 you can use that motor for the coote though using 1" steel banding metal and a couple of brackets that you bolt to the bench to cradle the motor. i have a old one thats not sealed i just blow it out with the compressor. if you can look in the side and see the copper wire, its not sealed. offer the guy $75 firm. thats to much for a used motor.

That is way to much for a used motor. You can pick up a Brand new one for $100-$150.Look for a TEFC motor. An enclosed motor is one that you cannot see the windings. Dave

I got a Spanking new Baldor 1hp variable dc motor on Ebay for $150 with a mounting base.
Thats what I use on my Coote. Has plenty OH power

Check there you can do well if your not in a hurry. I would buy only ones advertised as new. Buyer beware on used and ReConditioned motors.
