Each month I allow my self to spend a little Fun money and this month I spent it at GoingGear.com on a few items I've been wanting. Here's the list:

Firesteel Super Striker
Bobcat Firesteel - Misch Metal Ferro Rod Blank - 1/4" x 3"
Aluminum Waterproof Battery Capsule / Pill Fob - Blue
Aluminum Waterproof Vault Capsule / Pill Fob - Gray
iTP Light A1 EOS CR123 LED Flashlight

Can't hardly wait to try out the new gear and just thought I'd share my excitment with the rest of you. Will be posting reviews of the Firesteel Striker, Bobcat firesteel and flashlight after they arive and I get a chance to try them out. Thanks for listening,

Heber

Good stuff from Stori:thumbup: The super striker is just that....super.
I picked up a few small firesteels to fill in my order, the squirrel model I believe, 3/16X2. Amazing little steels for just under a buck a piece. Wish I got more. Here is a 3/8X3 with super striker. Looking forward to your reviews.

Congrats

A good friend of mine just got his order in, looked similar to yours except he got the iTP C7T and C8T body  He says the goinggear strikers are awesome, so I ordered a few of my own :).

Sounds like the striker is well regarded which I'm glad to know.

IUKE12, thanks for the picture. That Beaver Fire steel is huge!! Bet it works great with the striker.

rksoon, I got a C7T back in July. It's been my EDC light for almost a month now and I really like it. Should have gotten the C8 body with it, but oh well. Got the A1 EOS as a companion light for my C7.

Yeah, I was really pleased with how those strikers turned out. I was working on some premium ones as well, but scrapped those plans when I saw how well the cheap ones worked.

Heber: :) I have a A3 EOS upgrade, one of these days I'll pick up a larger iTP...recently got the Quark AA^2 so we'll see how that works out for me :)

Storl, how hard are your strikers? I just got mine last night, but since I got home so late, didn't have time to play with em. Just by holding them though, they look and feel like they'll be bada$$. The edges are nice and crisp .

Dunno, good question. I have one that we use at gun shows hundreds of times a day and it has never needed sharpening or touching up, so I think they are pretty hard.

After some heavy duty research, I just ordered a Quark AA Tactical. Almost bought a Jetscream too but I promised I'd keep it under $55.

How's the A3 EOS working for you? Can't wait for my A1 EOS to show up.

I've heared good things about the Quark Lights. Would love to hear your guy's impressions on the lights. They look pretty good.

The A3 EOS is a GREAT little light, well worth the $20:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:. The three levels are excellent. I've never had a keychain light put out so much light before (high level), and the lower levels are just right for reading or looking around for stuff in the dark. The UI is simple and the light weighs nothing, especially if you're using lithium AAA's. Unobtrusive AND handy. I think you'll be very pleased with the A1 EOS

I got to play around for a little with my Quark the other night, and it beats my Fenix Q5 L2D. The highest level is BRIGHT, the low low is excellent, the beam pattern is much smoother than my L2D, it comes with nice knurling and a pocket clip, and the overall design and construction is better than my L2D. Haven't experienced the pre-flash issue yet, but haven't had the chance to really use it yet either. It's pretty much the same UI as my L2D, which is nice because I don't have to learn another one. I didn't get the "warm" Quark, missed out on that, but I think this regular Quark will serve excellently as my hiking/camping flashlight.:thumbup:

When I get some time later, I will take some beamshots comparing the Quark 2xAA, Fenix Q5 L2D, Surefire G2L, Surefire E2DL, and LED mini-maglite.

Thanks for posting about both lights. Sounds like the Quark lights are something I'll have to look into when I have the money. :) Since I've never had a Fenix light, I'd have a small learning curve on it or the Quarks. Not that that is a real issue. ;)

BTW The iTP C series lights are easy to use. Tail clicky for on and off and changing modes (if you have the R version), and to change brightness levels slightly rotate the head and it will go up or down. Tighten the head when you get to the brightness you want and it will remember it untill you change the batteries.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread are the Capsules I got. I've found they are great for holding Petroleum Jelly soaked cotton balls. Make sure to use the smaller cotton balls cause you can fit over 12 balls in one. But with the big balls you can only fit one, maybe two. And IMO a small ball of cotton or two is all you need to start the tinder.

Nah, the user interfaces on both the Quark and Fenix are simple (and they're also tail clickies); it'd be a very small learning curve if any.

The continuous adjustment on the iTP is a nice feature, I want to pick up a C7 for EDC sometime in the next couple of months.

And yes, the capsules are great . I carry one in my pocket (holds PJCBs) on a ring with firesteel, striker, and W&SS necker.
