My good buddy Eric(Normark) at On/Scene Tactical has made what I think, are some pretty damn cool shoulder rigs. Eric is known for his kydex mastery and these are no exception.

When most bears are going into hibernation, I'm just comming out. Fall, Winter and early spring are when I'm active. The colder the better! I train in conditions that freeze lighters in your pocket and render cameras, flashlights, gps's useless in no time. Therefore, I like to keep these items close to my body but easily accessible. I asked Eric for a rig to keep a few crucial pieces of kit all snuggly-wuggly.... this is what we came up with.

A shoulder rig would carry items next to your body while keeping them off your belt....

This rig holds an O-Light T15 torch, 2 AA batteries and a butane lighter...

This kit holds a butane lighter and a Zebra torch. The cool part about this one is that if you slide the kydex torch sheath up the paracord it peeks out at your chest and can be set for hands free lighting...

I'm really happy with these. Last year I tested one in -40F temps... worked like a charm! My next challange for Eric is to incorporate a multitool into the rig.

Great idea, very nice work on the holsters ... how do you like the O-light ?

Very Cool Rick! I know he did a great job on my Gossman PSK sheaths, been thinking of putting together a shoulder rig like you got.... hmmmm.... have to check his page and see what he has :)

they look awesome. been thinking of ordering a mercharness speed dialer for my Endura 4 wave, but the OST site is kinda out of date so I wasn't sure if he was taking on new work.

Ya... his site is behind, but he's still working. IMO, he is getting really specialized right now and pulling off some fancy custom $#!T. These rigs are not up yet but I'm sure he'd work with folks on them.

Look forward to Eric the Knifemaker! He's been learning from Master Smith, Wally Hayes. His camp model is wicked!!!!

Cool... Normark does classic work. Two of my best blades, my F1 and my Dozier K1 live in his elegant sheaths.

that's a cool set up Rick... i like it... Eric does some really nice work..

I'm watching the mailbox for one of his belt sheaths for a BK2. Already have one for a Fallkniven. Good stuff, and not spendy.

do they join in the back? figure 8 shoulder loops?
with multitool, lighter, light and batteries one side, necker knife and camera on the other= winner.
what does a rig like yours cost?

Hey Guys...

Thanks much Rick..

I appreciate it..

Will try and get pictures of my own rigs up soon..

Edgemaster...

The shoulder rigs are based on the Mercharness, Ricks are just home made ones tied in the back..

100Eyes...

Whatcha mean kinda out of date?? LOL
Just no time to be a webmaster right now.. :)

As for the Speed Dialers,, that's not a problem at all.. Feel free to email me..
I'm making them all the time..

ericn@mnsi.net

Powernoodle

Hang tight,, working on it..

THanks guys

I really like that Rick! I have noticed here that when I am outside working on the coldest days the battery in my cell phone and batteries in my flashlight get low reeeeally quick so I can only imagine how fast it happens up there. I think incorporating a multi-tool is an awesome idea, just may have to go with one of the less bulky ones for under arm comfort.

I've been asked why I don't use Lithium batteries... Lithiums 3v's work well in the cold but are not interchangeable with the other gadgets in my kit.... my headlamp, torch, gps and camera all run on AA's.

Rick, Energizer Lithiums AA (1.5V) will work with anything that uses AA batteries.

Rick,

I just skipped to the pictures and though - what the hell - that has to be the oddest waste of a shoulder rig.... hey wait a minute!

The cold weather applications are perfect for this! Very cool - light, CAN'T loose it! NICE!

+1 for OST sheaths and rigs!

once i'm able to spend moeny on me again, I'm going to get Eric + crew to make me a double shoulder rig to hold my Scrapyard S5, a firesteel, a Surefire Outdoorsman light + 2 spare CR123's and a Emerson Snubby
