A week or so ago I spent a couple days with Jason Knight before a 3 day class he thought at Studio 4. we played around with my big hammer and some W2 we made some blades the way Jason likes to see them and I learned a lot. we got as far as putting clay and heat treating. Then it was time for class that went well and on monday I got Jason to show me one or two more tricks before I took him out on the town . Jason took home a blade a bit bigger then this one. I hope to see it done someday. I named this blade in his Honer Dark Edge of Knight. as I feel it put me on the edge of understanding what go's into a jason knight knife. Enjoy I did

schwing! That's the one.:thumbup::cool:

Great stuff Dave! I LOVE the name and the meaning behind it! :)

I'm assuming it was some kind of South Carolina black magic that produced a traditional hamon and an edge quench all in one blade right?!?!?! :eek:

:D

Nick I was shocked when I saw that line because I did a full quench and I used a rose bud to heat the edge but Jason went first and it was taking him a bit to get his blade just right temp to quench so I thought I will do a quick preheat with the induction forge thats all I did was one preheat and it made that line. so my thought is that we really need to do some testing on just what the induction forge is doing to the grain structure of the steel if one pre heat made that line.

I'm with Lorien! SCHWING!

It's a blade after my own heart...

Got my curiosity going with that double hardening line too...

Adam.

Thats so cool! Jason is one heck of a guy isn't he!! I've called him when I was in Iraq and even though he's busy he's allways willing to lend an ear! One day I'll have the privilege of meeting him in person.

Wicked piece Dave! I love it! Would've given anything to be a fly on the wall during that class:)
