many years ago, we became an injured country, bent on making those that cast an evil shadow across the globe, pay for their decisions to wake up a Sleeping Giant.

Many Americans lost their lives, and many, lost fathers, brothers, sons, and family in the Attack on Pearl Harbor.

FDR said it was a "Day that will live on in Infamy", so, continue to remember those that died. And those that were about to die, because of the actions on this day, 71 years ago.

I got to visit the Arizona memorial in 97, it was a sobering experience... I am not one for ghost and that kind of stuff, but as you stand and look down in the water at the wreckage you can feel the presence of the dead below you...

this a much younger version of myself feeding the birds before we took the ferry over to the memorial.

The greatest generation stepped up to the plate. That one touched everybody.

I have 1 uncle left who served in that war -- he was an "engineer" with Patton's 3rd Army, hit the beach a week after the Normany invasion.

Thank you for the reminder. People don't always remember if there isn't a ribbon attached to a date anymore.

a day to remember...

hopefully the enemies of the country remember :D

hopefully the politicians of the country remember too. serve the country, not yourselves.

remember those that fought for what we have.

Thank you for posting this moose!

I asked a bunch of people what today was, and they all said friday. Not one said Pearl Harbor.

I've been there, when my ship pulled into HI. It's hard to believe what destruction took place there.

Awesome post Moose. I had the opprotunity to visit pearl harbor many years ago. Its a memory I will have for the rest of my life. Oil still seeped from the vessel to the top of the water, as if they where tears. God bless all the lost souls of our Military. And God bless our country!

Thanks for the post, something that people can't be reminded of too much. Grandpa enlisted December 8th, was an FO for the Army, landed in the first wave at Omaha Beach.

Peace is a gift, the most costly gift of which I'm aware. To honor those who gave of themselves to give it, we should all try to make each quiet moment its own celebration.
