At my local liquor store they're having a sale on these ($20 off the price below)

BATTLEHILL SINGLE MALT * MACALLAN 16YR [SCOTLAND] 750ML $94.73

BATTLEHILL SINGLE MALT * MACALLAN 18YR [SCOTLAND] 750ML $105.25

The bottles look like this:

I was looking for information about these online, but found very little, apart from one post on another board where someone said Battlehill 18YO tasted like Macallan 18YO. At what appears to be the bottler's website, they don't seem to be aware that they bottle it. If it's just Macallan 18YO with someone else's label for $50 less, I might have to get some.

Anybody know anything about these whiskies?

From what I read on their site (History), Duncan Taylor & Company have been been "“laying down” casks from premium Scottish distilleries for decades and has, in recent years, made its branded products available to whisky connoisseurs throughout the World."

My interpretation of that is that they buy directly from the distillery, store the casks and then at some later date tap it and bottle it under their own label. Sounds like a bargin buy to me.

I'll secrond what Drew said.
It's just an independent bottler bottling Macallan.
I've got a bottle of 34 YO Macallan that is a Signatory bottling.
Buy, Buy, Buy, and don't forget to get a few extra for me.

Hmmm.... Should I focus on the 16YO at $75, or the 18YO at $85? I'm thinking the latter.

And what about this:

SPEYMALT FROM MACALLAN 34YR * GORDON MACPHAIL 750ML $259.99

Yeah you can just go ahead and get that 34 year and send it my way. I'll dispose of it properly.

Go with the 18!

Actually go with any of the Macallan. A superb single malt.

Even the 10 year old is a good drink.

I'm just surprised to see things listed as more delicate or light than glenfiddich 12. That was the scotch I started drinking before I liked scotch :D

MM - that is why Glenfiddich is the biggest selling single malt in the world.

It isn't challenging and easy for a non malt lover to drink.
