I know that the last model of Cold Steel' VG-1 San Mai III from Japan, was/is the Trail Master, with the other San Mai models having been shifted over to Taiwan production. But, am I right to guess that the initial switch to Taiwan kept them in the VG-1 core, with later they then switching to the VG-10 core?
And, if so, when were the Taiwan made San Mai models switched from being made from the VG-1 to VG-10 core?

Nope. Taiwan production began with VG10.
