hi everybody,
this is my first post on this forum, i'm a noob.

a couple weeks ago i bought an ontario kukri from a seller on amazon.
it lools a little bit different from the pictures on ontario's and others website.

mine looks like the one on this website.

the one pictured on the ontario site looks like this.

i can't attach pictures, but if you click the links you will see the blades are clearly different.

i was wondering if anyone knows if ontario recently changed design of this blade or if i should suspect that i own a knockoff.

i sent an email to ontario customer service over a week ago and haven't yet gotten a reply.

Yes, the grind is a little different. But what exactly is the issue here ? I am sure they will both function just fine. One may be older or newer, IDK. Here is mine, it works just fine. I have batoned with it as well. No issues.

If anything, i would say that the one with the full thickness line at the forward angle (shown in Knife Depot) would be just a tiny bit stronger, but i am no expert.

yeah, i've chopped down some trees with it so far no problems.
my worries are that it may be a knockoff, made from cheap chinese steel and prone to failure in the future and not under warranty from ontario.

Does it say Ontario, USA on the blade? If so, I bet it's Ontario. Go beat on some wood, if it holds up, and keeps a pretty good edge, then it's going to be just fine. I had one, gave it to my Brother, they are made well.

no, from what i have gathered ontario doesnt put thier name on the kukris, it just says "kukri, made in usa".

For what it costs, i doubt they would replace it. They would probably say abuse. My use is anothers abuse. I have never broken an Ontario knife that i have bought. I have batoned with all of them. I have broken at least 3 Ontario M7 Bayonets, that IMHO, should not have broke doing what i was doing, but that was on the US Army's dime- not mine. Use it & use it hard i say. If it breaks & you REALLY like the Kukri design, then buy a BK&T BK4, or any BK&T blade. Their warranty is much better. But still won't cover abuse.

Yeah, you're probably correct, it's been a while since I've seen one. Is there a reason you suspect it to be a knock off? I mean, are the edge grinds way off or something? Does your handle match the photos, same amount of "rings", same color rivet?

no, from what i have gathered ontario doesnt put thier name on the kukris, it just says "kukri, made in usa".

Let me go look.....................................

YUP, your right.-------------KUKRI w/Made in USA directly under the word KUKRI--------------------on left hand side of blade.
