Once again, the subscription renewal PITA

Tried to renew as I just realized my sub is expired, the card system does not like me.

This same nonsense happened last year when I went to renew. Same story too - your system decides it cannot verify my address.

Spark, get frigging paypal-compliant, huh? It's simple, and apparently paypal already knows my address and can simply pay 1sks, versus this irritation on an annual basis.

As far as the card processing fees versus paypal fees, I doubt you save much if anything this way, but it does irritate a long-standing member and I cannot believe it's just me.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

We don't boycott PayPal to save on fees; we boycott them because they are antis. Also if we didn't boycott them, they would boycott us.

Okay, no worries about that then - how about why the software seems to boycott me annually?

Thanks for getting this to the right place for me.

Are you in the US? Do you have a different credit card you can try?

My understanding is almost all US credit cards support address verification and almost all outside the US don't. Seems a few in Canada do....

You know you can use the old manual system, right? You won't get the discount, but it works.

Cougar, I am in the US.

I input two cards, one of which has informed me thru my bank that the transaction is pending despite the system informing me that it cannot verify my address.

I know nothing about the manual system. I clicked "subscription" in my profile and selected Gold, it took me to the card processing site. The discount is of little concern to me, especially as the bank tells me I have an impending debit.

If this has to wait until Monday morning, no sweat on that, but it is genuinely irritating that this is a recurring problem for me now.

Thanks for your help, let's get this sorted over the next 24 hours or so.

Have a good evening,

Parker

It's like this. When you enter your info, the system forwards it over to your bank, which says "yes, this matches" or "no, it doesn't". If it says yes, it goes through. If it says no, it doesn't.

So, what you entered doesn't match what your bank says your address is. This could be because they have an old address for you. Or the wrong address - I had a customer who'd never left Baltimore MD find out his bank had his billing address listed as somewhere in Texas once. Or it could be that your bank has your zip code as XXXXX-XXXX (9 digits) instead of XXXXX (5 digits) - Bank of America and Chase are particularly bad about doing that.

So, find out what your bank has for your listed address. If all else fails, try the plus-4 zipcode, that might do it. Or an old address where you used to live. But it's not us; trust me, I'd much rather have your $$$$$ and not having you think that we screwed up your info.

Spark, thanks - I appreciate the info - I called the bank, whom I had changed the address with 8 months ago, somewhere along the line they reverted back. It's being fixed and we'll be back to me playing for pay in a couple hours.

Glad we could help you get it resolved, mang.

Well, Spark, bad news - I just confirmed with my bank that the address correction is solid, the renewal system still gives me the error message saying it cannot verify my address.

Pls look into this as for me when you have a chance.

Your bank says that your address doesn't match what you put in, as stated above. Call your bank, and keep asking for supervisors until you get someone who knows their ass from a hole in the ground; because what you put in doesn't match what they are reporting.

Spark, it's possible your software, just like last time around, does not like my bank.

I say this becuase I've verified this with them three times now in the past 24 hours since posted last.

I've had this problem with your renewal system previously, and I'm not having this problem with anyone else's system.

So instead I will reference this when i call into 1SKS this week and take care of this over the phone.

Yes, it's possible that it's our software. Unfortunately, I deal with this problem at least 5 times a day and it's uniformly one of three things:
1. The customer entered information different from what the bank has.
2. The bank has the wrong information in their system.
3. The bank doesn't have address verification turned on.

You've used a different address than the last time. The last time this happened, you put in the wrong zip code. This is an entirely different card, so I don't know what they have for your address, I just know that they say they have something else.

Remember you're dealing with a computer program. It's probably too dumb to understand that 21 Main St. and 21 Main St are the same address.

Actually the street address doesn't matter anywhere near as much as the zip code does. If the zip code is right, everything is all good.

Ah, no, it's not.

Screw it, the five bucks is not worth the aggrevation.

Spark, I appreciate the help, but it just was easier and faster to do this thru 1sks - please look for Order Number: 66614 when you have a moment.

One last problem with this - according to my profile I have a gold subscription running from 4/11/2008 thru 4/11/2009

Any chance this can be updated on my name as displayed so the ever-vigilant mods don't send me dirty notes about being a gold member when I list something for sale?
