Once black canvas micarta starts looking like light gray micarta?

When black canvas micarta has been used to the point that it's looking like light gray or even white canvas, how do you restore it's black micarta appearance? I've tried waxes, and mineral oil, but they come off once sheathed or washed. I'm stumped.

Any help would be great.

I'm having trouble posting pics.

Anybody know how to restore black micarta without pics?

Maybe a soak with some rit dye? I've used it to dye natural canvas to a nice dark brown and it worked great.

There's more than one color of micarta so the rit dye would end up bleeding into the the other micarta. I'm looking for more of a light restoration method. This is a highly collectible piece and I don't want to seriously change anything with dyes, belt sanders or hardcore things like that. I guess I should just send it in to the maker, but if I could do it myself with a simple wax or preservative, I'd prefer to do that.

It is what it is....nature of the beast.....bandaids are temporary....live with it.

This is one reason why I prefer G10 :)

If the micarta is scuffed up, light sanding with fine paper will clean it up and make the color more even. Otherwise use oil or wax periodically.
