It just happened that my wife's purse and my fatboy were together on the couch. It strucked me how this summed up the difference between men and women ;):)
I took a picture and thought I would share ...

You all have recognized a fatboy, with a mini-rollypoly (24 oz water bottle inside) and a cheap black camera pouch fastened on the outside (where I put my gums, chocolats, etc.).

Why do you carry "gums, chocolats" around? That's not very tactical of you-- might as well carry the red and gold purse. Unless it's a special operations chewing gum that doubles as a plastic explosive. Hm. I'm gonna go patent that right now.

Just funnin' ya. :)

On a more serious note: Does the water bottle slosh when it's half empty (or half full :D)? I stopped carrying that kind of low-waist pack when I got tired of the bag bouncing around on my ass (I didn't want to use a thigh attachment loop because that's a little over the top IMO). Anyone else have this problem? Maybe I just walk too quickly.

Hi !

:D Here's my tactical chocolate setup for today. Man, don't you know you should never mess about chocolate with Belgians ?!:D

I don't have that problem. I use either 24oz or 32oz (32 the more often) Evian water bottle (well, I think it doesn't matter here ;)). The rollypolly stays vertical with the water bottle inside. I think this setup (fatboy+rollypolly for water) is ideal for urban trips. I can even "hang" a small folded rain-shell between the fatboy and my body. Very versatile.

I first bought a black proteus. Same bombproof construction as the fatboy, but couldn't put as much stuff inside. It was also quite combursome (sp?) around my waist. I now use it as a pack organizer for my Arcteryx RT25 or Berghaus freeflow.

A picture for comparative study. It goes to show the priorities of men and women are starkly different.

The physical and psychological differences between the two genders account for the wide difference in preferences.

When I told her about this threat and the picture, she just smiled and say "You cheater ! That's my week-end purse". She has different Kipling bags/purses for the week.

I'm not sure pictures of these would be of great interest for you guys ;)

I'm not into backpacks, but the Max-Fatboy looks quite suitable for my needs. I notice that it is sold for full retail ($59.99) at all of the places I have checked out. Any online retailers that offer a discount? :)

Hi,

Indeed, it's a really well built and practical small pack.
From what I've seen, they retail at about the same price everywhere.
I've ordered mine from www.toolshop.de, but it's only suitable if you live in Europe (or if you want to pay big bucks compared to the price in the USA).

As a side note, I was able to put a lot more things inside than I thought before ordering. It's really better than the proteus on that side. If you are interested, I can take of picture of the content.

Please post pics of the Fatboy filled.
I like it!!
Do you think the khaki gets dirtier than the black would?
That's a small rollypolly? It's a fine size to carry the large water.

Very nice chocolate :)
Thanks for the review.

It ain't a purse it's a MAN BAG!!!

My wife says "purse" all the time. Told her to knock it off, or I'd get me some matching shoes!!!

The word that comes to my mind is 'Murse'...not that this word sounds any better than Man Purse, Disillusioned Fanny Pack or Packaskew

Tacbag ????

NAH!
it reminds me of a date I once had.
A whole other story.
hahahaha
