there was ignorance in all things Busse. I did not really know too much about Busse Combat or the knives that could be had for those willing to try for something a little more. I did not really care for the hype and trying to make a purchase at light speed; if anything, it made learning about and purchasing Busses a little overwhelming. Still, I took my time and tried to be sure that if I was going to shell out that kind of money, it would be for a great knife. After all, first impressions are important. Enter TurnerIII. Doug had a Basic 5 that, while not all that fancy, looked like it would be very hard-pressed to fail at anything it would ever try. How could I resist when it seemed so perfect?
In time, I found a gentleman looking to make a trade. I did not know exactly what Cobalt was looking for, but I knew what he was offering. I also knew that a lot of folks had tried to throw him some tempting bones, and he had not taken any of them. Yes, it was a very tempting blade indeed, but what could a newbie like me ever offer a HOG like him? Well, the least I could do was try; all he could do was laugh at me, right? Well, the rest is history. They say she is 1 of 14, but to me, she is 1 of 1.
While both of these knives are awesome in their own right, they could not fulfill the role of an EDC for me, especially at work. I needed something smaller, a little more concealable. Then came the GWs. My initial thought was that a SMOG would fit the bill nicely as it was probably my favorite GW out of all of them. But then one day, I happened to check the FS forum and see that a few minutes earlier, lacourla had posted an Active Duty for sale. Even more amazingly, at least two folks had already seen her and she was still there!!! To me, thats a clue, a very big one that I could not ignore. And when she came, I knew that my SMOG had finally met her match.
Some great Busses, but none yet directly from the shop. That all changed finally changed when Gravelface offered to help me out on a Ganza by trying to snag something for me since I was already committed to something else. Jason may come across as an easy-going, get there when I get there kind of guy, but he was as fast as anything, and snagged me a muddy SJ variant. Man, how I loved that knifea definite keeper, or so I thought. Walking Man had plans of his own for that knife, and he was definitely willing to walk the walk to get her. I hope you still have her to this day, WM. I have yours umm mine that I got in trade
.
But not all Busses come directly from Busse Combat, the Company Store, or even from HOGs that are well known here. Viking313 is a case in point. For whatever reason, he was parting with an Anorexic Badger Attack. Without hitting all the details, suffice it to say that the INFI Gods smiled on me once again. Finally, a Busse that even my wife is wanting! And no, I am not that crazy I got her a Ray Cover custom folder instead.
So there is my little story. I leave out lots of knives that have come, some that have come and gone, and tried to focus on a few top-notch keepers. One final pic and a big thanks to all that have been a part of my INFI addiction, and had the wherewithal to read this far!
