Please forgive me if it's not proper to post this here. I want to thank a member of these forums. They have asked to remain anonymous so I will respect their wishes. Last Friday one of our members showed me a very kind act. Recently I was laid off from my job due to what they call right sizing for the company. When you take pride in your work that really knocks you down, not to mention Christmas is right around the corner. I have a very big hearted little girl that i don't want to disappoint.
Since money is a little tight right now I had to let my basic membership run out. This member sent me a message Friday morning offering some very kind words and after, notified me he had gifted me a basic membership. To me that was no small act, It turned my whole outlook around and gave me hope that something better is in my future. I feel this is a very positive place, and for every post like mine I wonder how many we never hear of. That's a wonderful thought.

You know who you are...Thanks and God bless,
Marty

As they say my friend, and I always believe this myself....seek and ye shall find, prospective employers love people who will go out of their way looking for a job.
This place is pretty cool for kind people- traditional People, that's why they call this "The Porch "

Words of wisdom from a Kiwi....now there's something y don't often get:p.
Seriously Marty I know exactly the feeling of being supported by this community.
Ive been plotting my rewenge for quite awhile now and my plan is in its final tweaking phase.....
I wish you luck and soon things look up for you.

Thanks for sharing Marty, many kind and gracious people in our midst here and your one of them:thumbsup: This happened to my son two weeks ago, not enough work and to many employees was the reason given:rolleyes: He LOVED his job and it crushed me to hear the pain in his voice when he told me. He is a hard working, responsible, honest and LOYAL worker.

Prayers for you and your family and I mean this in the most positive way, my Mom ALWAYS tells me, "honey for every door that closes, two open" and as corny as that sounds to some people, my Mom is right:thumbsup:

My step father, a pastor for over 35+years had immense wisdom and he would always say in the face of adversity, "this to shall pass" a GREAT job is waiting out there for you Marty:thumbsup:

Very sorry to hear about your boy Paul :( Getting laid off seems to be a part of modern life, and it always seems to happen this time of year :( Hope he finds something else he enjoys doing

Redundancy was the best thing that ever happened to my dad. He spent most of his working life in dirty overalls, working in big factories, as a machine-tool fitter. He was made redundant when he was nearly 50, but went on work as a care-worker with older people, a job he really enjoyed, quickly moving up the pay-scale to become Principal of a large care-home, and even managing to take an early retirement

I think one post like this raises the spirits of the entire "Porch" community, I know I feel prouder to be a part of it! :) Thank you anonymous giver and I hope you find something soon Marty. In the meantime it sounds like you are appreciated both on the Porch and in your home ;)

Nice on the person that took that time for you, and of the many people I know that have lost their job to 'right sizing' I don't recall any that later on found that it turned into a blessing as another opportunity found them, that's my wish for you as well.

Thanks Marty for sharing that wonderful gesture and act of kindness. Altruism and stories like this inspire me. You will often see generosity like that in the traditional knife community and I truly believe the Porch is at the epicenter of it all :) It sure feels like it anyway.
Good luck with your job search and hope to see you around more often :thumbsup::thumbsup:

An act of kindness can certainly run deep and it did. Whereabouts in NC are you located and what do you do? OH
I'm right outside Winston-Salem. My degree is in Information Systems but like a lot of people I ended up doing other things. The job i had was at medical center doing some driving, it was supposed to be a way to get my foot in the door to move on to something more. On the side I do some product photography but I'm no where near making that a full time job.
