Got this Joe Allen this morning from SharpNJ (aka Marty). 4 inches, 154CM, black micarta, half stop and fluted bolsters. Based on the "Lanny's Clip" pattern of Mr. Bose.
I chipped the blade pretty bad on a piece of Christmas fruitcake but was able to smooth it out OK.;) Thanks to SharpNJ for the knife, Tony and "Lanny" (whoever that is) for the pattern, and especially to Joe Allen the maker.

Very nice & prarctical:thumbup:
I haven't handled 1 of Joe Allen's before. Good backspring tension?
Cheers
Mitch

Joe's work is super. I have 3 of his small saddlehorns and the spring tension is just about perfect for me. His workmanship is first rate!

Nice knife, Rob. I've always liked that pattern. In fact I should have one from an up and coming maker in a the not too distant future.

I like Joe's work a lot. I've got some upcoming projects with him.

Enjoy the knife Rob. Glad I never posted the pic I took, yours blows mine away.

Great lookin' folder Rob!

Watch out for that fruitcake.

Happy Holidays to all my folksy fellow knifeknuts here!

Lovely work, nice score.

Joe's making a swell center jack for me..looking forward to it :)

Fruitcakes are the epitome of evil...no intrinsic value.

I'm glad I ordered a bunch of knives before you guys figured out how good his work is:D

Nice knife. I have a large saddlehorn by Joe Allen, and I'd say the spring tension is just a bit on the light side. Well regulated and good action just lighter than what I've been used to in a big knife. On the other hand, very easy to open, even with gloves on.

I own several pieces of Joe's recent work ranging from large to medium in size in they all have firm springs. Not as strong as Ray Cover's, but then again, some folks consider Ray's springs a little too strong. Joe can regulate the spring tension the way you want it. I like them firm, but not nail busters.
