Received this beauty the other day, and just found some time to take handle this knife some and take some pictures.
Since I've gotten the M-15, it has been my favorite Emerson model to date. Only thing better would be a custom M-15, but so far, not one has been made. So I did the next best thing. Send a production to Ferrrk (Phil) for him to work his magic on. And boy, did this knife really fulfill my desire for a true Emerson custom!
One thing I'd like to express is that the more work I have done with Phil, the more I know what to ask for to take advantage of his awesome skills. And this latest job from him does just that.
So here's the scoop. So after seeing the new CQC-45, and checking out models like the 19-eleven and HMMV-K, I wanted my M-15 to have some of the thickest liners available in a knife. The lock is 0.104" thick while the thickness of the opposite liner is 0.09". I also asked for a HMMV-K-ish titanium backspacer for added grips and looks. Black micarta scales paired with long, angled titanium bolsters. The action of the knife is noticably smoother than before. All screws and Ti parts were given a satin finish.
The new stonewashed finish on latest Emerson are awesome, so the blade was left untouch, thus allowing me to keep the Emerson logo on the blade for once.
Without futher delay, here is the knife.
Check out the super thick liners with perfect lock up.
Some shots of the backspacer.
A few more shots showing the fit and finish of Ferrrk's work. Check out where the Ti bolster meets the Micarta scale.
Now the knife it all its entirety.
