I got these done and photographed lately. The first is a 9 inch Bowie with Sambar Stag and N/S. The blade is 5160 and the OAL is 14 inches.

The next one is an 8 inch fighter with an OAL of 13 inches. The steel is 5160 and the handle is Green Linen Micarta.

I intend to use this one for an up coming cutting Competition. Thanks, Lin:)

Love the lean blade on the Bowie.Very nice Stag. The furniture is just right and nicely done.
The sub-hilt fighter is very nice also. What better than a sub-hilt for a grippy cutting knife.Good luck at the cutting comps!
Lin,
OT,but were we supposed to do a deal a while back on a Bowie,I remember you had a brass guard on the spine and it wasn't quite done and you were going to a Show with it.Just didn't want ya mad at me if the follow through or lack thereof was my fault.
You make very nice knives.

Doug :)

I smell quality. I also smell Chuck Ward's photo work. Nice smells.... ;) :p

No problems from my end, Doug. I appreciate your comments. :)

Don, I have confession. The profile of the bowie blade is very similar to one you recently posted. I dont think mine is quite as nice, but I really like the long graceful look. Thanks, Lin:)

elegant lines on that Bowie really graceful.and the Fighter is just right.

They both look great -I particularly like the fittings on the bowie. I'll be interested to hear how the next cutting comp. goes with the blade length reduced to 8".

No problem Lin, I didn't notice the resemblance at first. Yours is very nice also. Thanks:)

I wanted to really test the fighter, so I built a rope cutting apparatus this morning. I cut a few peices of rope and decided to chop some pine. The only peice I had handy was a section of
2 X 12 yellow pine. I chopped the wood for a while and cut a rope and did this till the 2 X 12 was completely in two and it still shaved and cut the rope very clean. I happy with the way it held up.

When I was testing the edge profile during the final grinding, I used Elk antler to get the profile right. Of course, I borrowed the idea from Jason Knight and Adam Derosier. I dont have any Moose.

I will do some more testing with cans and water bottles, but expect it to do well in those. We'll see.
Lin:)
