Finishing up this one, I think I wouldn't mind making about a thousand more exactly like It.
Perfect may not exist, but it's everything I think a knife should be for all things American backcountry- big game, camp tasks, fishing and every day carry jobs will be quick work.

I forged it to shape from a John Deere load control shaft (a premium grade 5160 spring steel) and it measures a little over 3 1/2" from tip to guard with a razor sharp convex grind that sits above a finger-choke riccasso. I have learned an extensive heat treat method that optimizes the steel for exceptional durability, edge retention and sharpen-ability. The nickel silver guard is soldered in place over desert ironwood, black, maroon, white and gray fiber spacers as well as a premium sambar stag handle that uniqely fills both the left and right hand like a perfect glove. Overall length measures 8 1/8" and it comes in one of my hand-stitched pouch sheaths. I guarantee this knife (and all of my work) for life. It’s up for grabs at www.CUNNINGHAMCUSTOMSHOP.com along with some others…. But this one is my favorite 🤩IMG_6620.jpeg

Lovely work. I am doing a knife with stainless bolsters but they dont look as good as yours. It is hard to get the shine.

I've done them with stainless before as well, and boy is that more work!! If nickel is available to you, I recommend it for the high polish.

Now that’s a knife!! I see some Ed Fowler influence, but definitely your own style. Very nice.
You see correctly (and thank you for recognizing)! Ed taught me everything I know about bladesmithing while my handle influence comes heavy from my decade at Behring Made, making mostly Scagel style stuff. I am fortunate to have learned from some of the greats!
