I went fishing witha couple buds.We needed a knife to cut up the squid.I saw a fillet knife in my friends tackle box and suggested using it.He said hell no that things brand new.
I knew he had a birthday coming up this w/end so this is what I made for him. I made this thing friday night from about 8pm till 3am.Fit and finish are not to great as I know if i spent too much time on it he would never use it,so its quite rough. If you cant see the words on the blade it says" Fish or cut bait"on one side and"happy b-day steve 2002"on the other. The ugly guy holding the knife is me.Oh yea specs

That's quite a knife for a short turnaround.(before giving it to your buddy, should have shaved those arms! LOL!--DAN

I like it Mark. Don't blame your buddy for not wanting to use a nice shiney knife. I make the things and still cringe the first time I use em. For my test knives I make them rough so I don't break out in hives when I cut something.:D

Mark- maybe you could sell one of those and buy a new shirt!;) Just kidding!! I enjoy making stuff for my hunting and fishing buddies, 'cuz I know they will really get used and be appreciated. That knife looks like a great user, one that would last several lifetimes. That etching job is fantastic! Did you do that free-hand? What did you use for a resist? Thanks.

Now that is a good looking user..
I would take him fishing again then when it came time to clean the fish start using it first then hand it to him with his name side up and say here is one for you to use..
Heck what is wrong with the shirt:D I have a few just like it nyself.I didn't know us knifemakers were supposed to but new shirts:eek: just wear the old ones until they fell off from to many burn holes:D

First my arm hair, now my shirt what shop talk is now full of fashion police?Hey Tangus You should see my butt hair:D .The resist is Bruce Evans brand mulberry delight nail polish. And yes i just didit freehand.Iwish I could get a better picture but he already has it now.My bud is going camping for two weeks with it and I told him to uses and abuse it.You guys are so funny.By the way that is my best shirt I own.:( How does that make you feel.just kidding

Heck Gouge..Just take a pack of safety pins and close the holes with them and use some as buttons and you will be wearing a $500.00 custom shirt:D
Donna and the girls have there fashion mags laying around and I was looking at the new jean styles and shirt styles. And they are cutting clothes up on purpose to look like our old comfortable shirts and pants then pinning them together or sewing in funky colored patches and selling them for allot of money.
I better watch my old shirts as the ladies in the house are liable to steel them for themselves, then I will be forging without a shirt:eek: But I bet Donna would look killer in them anyway.
Great knife Gouge and I bet your buddy will really enjoy it.

Don't let em make fun of you Mark. Shoot....we have the same color beard, maybe we are related:D :D

How come you haven't burned all your chest hair off?

Bruce, when you get to be my age you don't worry about closing up the holes......cept maybe for the time I set my pants on fire:o

There ain't anything wrong with the shirt, the holes
provide ventalition, cooler that way. I like the
recerve on the blade it should be a great fishing
knife, now go and catch some fish. Gib
