One for Danny!

someone used the bench grinder to sharpen with. I like their notching work attempts though. not much to salvage there on the rear bolster. new blade and some polishing and maybe still useable......

to me, if it were mine it's time to let that one die......

You have to give the modder/artist some credit. Despite poor execution, there are a few features that I like:

Pros:
~ They picked a good platform - 1974-80 2 dot with 4 handle pins.

~Threaded/ringed/lined bolsters. I really like the looks of that, and would be tempted if Buck offered that in their custom shop.

~Radiused handle and frame. Buck didn't start fully radiusing until the end of 2 dot era. They had some foresight!

~Jimping on the lockbar release -not a bad idea! Having some extra traction on the top of the blade and lock bar might prove beneficial in wet, slippery conditions.

~The big notch on top of the blade - remember the Buck/Hood 060 Hoodlum that caused so much controversy with "the notch"? Buck said you could use it for "...scoring bone, bending wire, removing pots from a camp fire, or other small tasks". Maybe it was added for a specific purpose.

~ Cutout for arrow escutcheon plate - even though it has the shape of Case's arrowhead shield, I'd like to see it with a brass or NS shield inset into the handle.

~ Thinned edge angle. The older 440C edge geometry were very thick behind the edge and hard to sharpen with the convex edge. I would bet that with a few minutes of touch up, that thing would cut like the dickens.

Cons:
~Sold in a about 10 minutes on the big auction site for $12.

That's a great deal for $22.02 including shipping. A new blade, handle frame, backspring, spring holder, handle scales. blade spring, and rivets and a little polishing and it would be like new.
Just need to find the donor knife with all the above parts in good condition. A couple sold online for $240 - $260 ish lately.
Than you would have a knife worth around $250

Whoa! Between the Louie Special and the knife in this topic, my rescued "packrat" 2-dot 112 was seems like it was in good shape before I sent it to Buck!

fwiw.. new blade and back spring, it would make for a very novel user. I wouldnt even bother with the rest of the spa treatment. given the age of the knife, i bet some 12 year old stole this out of his dads toolbox and turned it into a "clubhouse" knife. Probably used in many blood brother rituals..;)
:D

I'd send it in just to see what they would say 🤣

Looks to me like the rear bolster by the lock was used as a bottle opener

I kinda like it. Louie was a bit of a mess, but there is something endearing to me about home-brew mods, especially from the pre-tactical-knife era. I saw, maybe on another forum (I can’t remember), a 110 that was embellished by the owner while he was standing watch on his warship in the Navy. I have a LB7 from the 70s that someone shaped The handle to be 112-like and drilled the blade for a thumb stud.
