My Grandfather got me into knives way early in life. He was a knife nut and anything outdoors. He never got to see me make knives. My Grandmother helped get me into painting which led to a sculpting degree. Knives is my outlet for the combined influences above. Grandma is long in the tooth these days and I'm tired of sharpening her low RC old school bandsaw blade knives. So I'm making several knives from D2 for my kitchen and hers. Hope I can fit these in and get her one made. Christmas would be cool but even before would be fine too. Longer ones are 5" blade. Shorter one is 4" blade. 3/32" D2 stock.

Stay tuned for updates.

Those are very nicely design blanks! No surprise those will come out as a beautiful triplet :)
Sounds you're one good grandson, Brian :D

BTW, how old is your grandma?
I really missed mine :(

Got the profiles clean and pin holes placed. Ranger Green G10 on 2 and blue black on 1. More work on these later. :)

My grandfather (when he was alive) wanted me to make a knife for gram for their anniversary. I made her a real nice kitchen knife, etched their anniversary date on it, figured it would stay on a shelf somewhere. Nope, She uses the heck out of it. It is funny, because she wont let anyone else use it.

I am kind of glad. It ended up being a anniversary gift for both of them (I couldnt take any money from gramps), and he got to at least own one of my knives before he died, even if gram never let him use it.

Ready for heat treat!!!

I have the edge set without being too thin and I have the flats to a decent 220 grit. All handle holes drilled like I like them. Added glue between scale to scale and weight removal.

Making progress!
