Well, due to time constraints and the fact that I managed to screw on up that I worked on for about five days, the pickings are going to be mighty slim for me at the Arkansas show this weekend.

Anyway, I just finished this one up and thought I'd share it.

This one's a Montero in my raindrop pattern damascus with African Blackwood and bone.

I did something a little different with this one. Instead of having visible pins, the handle is secured by a hidden pin under the inlay. I was pretty pleased with this one. It looks better than the photo.

Some folks might wonder why I chose bone instead of ivory or pearl. Well, I do everything for a reason. I used bone because it had a fine grain that mimicked the grain in the African Blackwood.

Here's an extreme closeup of the inlay to show what I mean. The lens is probably about 3/4" from the inlay in this shot.

Of course in this closeup it looks like you could plant corn in those lines, but as you can see in the top photo, from eight or ten inches away it's got a nice smooth finish and shine.

I was pretty pleased with the fit up on it. If you close your eyes and run your fingers across the handle, you can't tell that there's an inlay in it.

The bone "ringset" and inlay break up the lines, and make this one of the most attractive models of this particular knife that I have seen you do.

I also like the filework.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Well that just flat-out rocks. Just a gorgeous little hunter. The handle treatment is really spot on. Have a great time at Little Rock!

Without you being there, Roger, it just won't be the same. :(

Still, I think we can manage to find enough stuff to look at and drool over, to have a decent time of it. ;) :)

Terry, this is one super sweet knife! Now, post a picture of MY knife! :)

Extremely good match-up. That inlay is so close in texture to the Ebony it looks almost like you managed to bleach out an oval area. Very impressive work!

That Damascus blade is sure good looking and the handle. This one will sell quickly.

Really dramatic piece also my favorite Montero I've seen from you Terry
love the damascus...congratulations!

Terry... each of the ones you've posted lately shouts that you are reaching the apex of knifemaking! And then you go and post another one that places your work on another level...Is there an apex to your skills??? :D

Your attention to the details and an eye for the proper proportions... That is one of the finest small knives I have seen...

Thank you very much for the kind words guys. I'm always a little apprehensive about posting my work here because there's so much REAL talent shown in this forum.

To keep from getting depressed I've learned to accept my limitations and just do the best I can at my current skill level. Occasionally while working orders I experiment and try to push myself a little farther. I've got a l-o-o-n-g way to go. :D

no talent here....but I DO like your knife...a lot. ;)
