Well, due to time constraints and the fact that I managed to screw on up that I worked on for about five days, the pickings are going to be mighty slim for me at the Arkansas show this weekend.
Anyway, I just finished this one up and thought I'd share it.
This one's a Montero in my raindrop pattern damascus with African Blackwood and bone.
I did something a little different with this one. Instead of having visible pins, the handle is secured by a hidden pin under the inlay. I was pretty pleased with this one. It looks better than the photo.
Some folks might wonder why I chose bone instead of ivory or pearl. Well, I do everything for a reason. I used bone because it had a fine grain that mimicked the grain in the African Blackwood.
Here's an extreme closeup of the inlay to show what I mean. The lens is probably about 3/4" from the inlay in this shot.
Of course in this closeup it looks like you could plant corn in those lines, but as you can see in the top photo, from eight or ten inches away it's got a nice smooth finish and shine.
I was pretty pleased with the fit up on it. If you close your eyes and run your fingers across the handle, you can't tell that there's an inlay in it.
