Ah knots the bane of our existance or a boon to mankind ?

I,m a naughty boy myself . I have to admit there is much I have to learn .
I want to tie two free ends together . This will be tied in waxed linen thread . It will be inside the opening of a simple sheath I am making . An overhand knot would suffice . They also tend to be a pain sometimes as they will only draw the ends tight until the knot is constricted . If there is any slack at all in the line it is staying there . I would like a simple knot that may be tightened and still be able to draw the slack out of the stitches the knot will be securing .

In other words I want a knot that may still be drawn tighter but cannot loosen .

The content of this thread is knot as the title would imply.

Lets be square about this , hitch up our pants and face this as our granny taught us .

The question is " To Be Or Knot To Be "

Right now no knot be .

I thought a timber hitch had to be tied around something and was only secure when tension is applied ?

Don't use a knot at all. Be sure to backstitch a few times and then melt the thread into the hole. It won't come out.

I,m pretty sure its linen I,m using and so won,t reform into a ball when heated .
Linen turns to ash . This is actually a test to make to tell whether you are buying linen or a cheap rizzen frizzen synthetic like one shoe supply store tried to tell me was a 52 dollar spool of linen . L:O:L

I can,t backstich either as there is only room for a few stitches . I can,t use a rivet as one of the materials I am going through is birch bark . A layer of leather one of birch bark and a final of boar rawhide .
