Sweet. Nessie goodness.

The first one is based on a pattern I drew on paper and cut out and gave to the blacksmith that lives over the hill from me. The walnut was cut from my farm so the knife is all the way Culloden

I just love his shop. With the doors that open on the 2nd floor, and his mark carved in the building there. Sweet!

HD i do love the look of the knives. But i got a Q if i may. What makes those knives better or diffrent then a regular pattern??? I have never handled a knife this shape so i realy dont know.
It sure seems like everyone has alot of good things to say about the pattern. what are the weak points and what are the stronge points if the knife???

where could i get a nessmuk styled blade?

Scott Gossman makes a fine nessmuk blade. BRKT makes a couple that qualify IMO, such as the Wolf River. They also have a lil nessy, but IMO its too thick to really be considered true to form. GREAT knife though in its own rite.

OR, you could make your own. It isn't hard. PM me for a link to a great tutorial by Oupa.

Sasha,

What is a regular pattern? :D

All difft knives have difft advantages and disadvantages.

I think the design has good cutting power. The round part can be used for hollowing out stuff. The blades are THIN so they are better slicers than most. I assume they would be good for skinning due to the shape. Wide enough to use as a spoon. I use mine backpacking as a spoon(the stripey one I just got the other 2) They are really convex, carbon steel and easy to sharpen.

Weakness I would say would be they are a big blade so not as good for stuff you would use a small blade for. On especially the fat one the tips aren't real pointy so for drilling or someting where you would need to poke the point of a knife into something it would not be as good for that. Also on the walnut and the Osage one the grips are a bit too thin so they are not as comfortable for extended cutting as the stripey one that has a more rounded handle. In fact I'm going to replace the scales with more rounded ones.

Hope this helps. I'm sure there are other points but those are the ones I can think of right off.
