Well, the lights are out on one of our favorite knife companies, so to pay tribute, we should all post pics of our Schrades.

Here are all mine:

My good buddy, 8-OT:

My Golden Spike:

My favorites are my 8-OT, my Bearhead trapper, and the Golden Spike that I re-handled. Still one to get a Buzzsaw trapper, Smokey lockback, and an LB-7 or two.

I picked up a TLT96 bone handled trapper today at a local Wal-mart, so it didn't make it into this pic. Man, that's one nice knife! Everything I want in a pocketknife, very well-built and very nice looking!
Sort of a bittersweet aquisition, actually...

Dam those red X's! That's what shows up shortly after I try and post a pic. It's a great idea tho Steve and I would really like to see those pic's if I could. Nice try, maybe some body can tell us how to do it. I would like to show of my SCHRADE's.

Go to your photohost site (I use Hunt101 and Photobucket.com) and copy the link they provide to link your picture. Then, click the insert image button at the top of the page, and past your link in the pop-up box.

As long as the link is good, the pic should show up.
What you should see before you submit your post is something like this (the space between the G and ] and the [ and / won't be there, I added them to show what they will look like):

It would be quite impossible to post all of my Schrades since they represent 100 years and well, quite a few knives. However as I mentioned earlier today I was in Ellenville ( where Schrade used to call home) . About a 25 minute ride. Ellenville is a village in the town of warwarsing. As I drove through town I stopped at the town hall and asked if they had any knives. Every year Schrade being a good neighbor would contribute sometimes free sometimes for a nominal sum a yearly knife or a special issue to help the town raise money over the years I had bought a few but a friend of mine had said that they still had a few from some years available. I found out that before Schrade closed they made sure the town would have an issue for this year. A jigged real bone 2 bladed peanut. Even in the throes of bankrupcy they remembered there neighbors. Last years was a 2 bladed trapper with special shield handles like the old heritage series and etched blade. They also still had a large folding hunter in micarta from 2000. However the one that amazed me and so exemplified what Schrade was an LB-7 from 2002 with a colored scrim of a flag a fireman and a police man that says United we stand. July 4 2002. I bought most of the 2002 2003 and a few of the 2004 ( they still have these (2004) they are an incredible 15 dollars in real bone. ) with etch. Schrades parting gift to the town it loved. I have included pics of the three I mentioned I also bought a 2000 I think is was about the end of them as well. However I have not opened it. The 2002 has become in one day one of my favorite knives I have never seen an issue ( perhapes because of the timing ) that so represented the true spirit of America and Schrade. As I have said in the past all but one or two of my friends are gone most in support or by releated illnesses both mental or physical somehow tied to this country and its defense. It would seem to me now that an institution and the people involved with it can pass in the same manner. Yup no good deed goes unpunished and Schrade only did good deeds so I guess they got what they deserved and now it is only right the we get what we deserve. ( Imports made by chinese prisoners in virtual slave labor.) When ever I look at this knife I will think of the spirit of this company that fought so hard to stay American and proud. Whenever I look at the words on this knife I will think not of an epitaph but rather the instructions left like a scroll in a cave by the dead sea. UNITED WE STAND to late for Schrade but not for the rest of us. As has been said before we must hang together or we shall surely hang alone. Enjoy the pics by the way the four of these (2002) I got today are NOT for sale. LT

Steve I can't see your pic's. All I see are those red x's. LT's I can see. What gives?

most of 'em are users, except for the obvious ones in the nice display boxes. Out in the truck I have the Navitool and another X-timer. my schrade texas toothpicks are in a display case. I also have a large collection of Imperials, mostly the 'Frontiers'.

Thanks for the pics, Steve and LT.

Only thing I can think of is that Hunt101 may be down. I have had this problem with them from time to time. It's a free service, though, and usually reliable. Can't complain about free! :D

LT, I was pretty sure it would take you a few pages to post all yours ;)

Don Louis, Phil, nice collections! Keep-em coming everyone, don't be shy!

Most of you have seen these before. I hope to have some pics of a few of my more recent "children" soon.

Geez, Larry

I thought I had a couple Schrades, but holy cow, that's nice stuff. Not LT numbers, but darn impressive.

BTW, when can I come over and drool on those blades???

Glenn

Glenn,
Thanks for the compliments. No drooling allowed. I have no chance of coming close to LT in numbers. He's been at it his entire life and he says he's OLD! :)

The Schrade collection is about 90% of my entire collection. I have a few toothpicks, Laguioles and springers but nothing compared to Phil and LT on either count.

Like most collectors we are never done. I have heard of a couple of OT's made only for Europe.. and did you hear about the one that was made for...

Like I said. This is only a resting spot. The road continues.
I love Steve's re-handled spike in the 1st picture and the custom work you have done is special and Don Luis is showing us that special Barlow. Maybe thats my next avenue to travel.

Keep posting I know you all have more.
Larry

Steve... I do like your re-handle jobs. Very very nice.

Ditto on the re-handled Barlow, Luis.

Larry, in your first pic, second knife down on the left side... Looks like a PH1 with a clip blade?? Would be an adequent skinner. Didn't know they made such a blade. What is it?

Impressive couple from LT. The Ellenville knives have to be extra special.

Glenn, you've got a nice bunch there.

This is cool.

By the way for any of you who don't have a lot of these, just a couple, It's the knife, the quantity. At my knife club's annual show this year, a member showed off his 'Collection of One': It was a Michael Price Ivory handled dagger made in old San Francisco. In the condition it was in, it was worth as much as not just one of the other collections presented, but perhaps all of them. Which does not mean your single Schrade has to be rare or expensive to be of interest to us... So show it off! Tell us why you value it. What's special about it to you.

Phil

Phil,
I think the knife you referred to is a 14OT and the match to the 144UH.
My 144 is in the mail and when it arrives I'll post a picture of the 4 of them for comparison. The 14OT is one heavy knife (7.6 oz) with a thick back to the blade. THe angle of the grind on the blade is different then the PH's. THe 13OT blade (just above the 14 in the pict) is almost a match to the PH1.
In the 3rd picture group is a pair of black handled PH1 & 2.

Steve1701d,
Did you ever get the e-mail I sent?
Larry

I got one from you some time ago, but not recently. Our e-mail has been only semi-reliable lately, though. I have you in my address book, so I'll go ahead and send you one to reply to.

Nice fixed-blades you have there, by the way! I have always thought the PH1's were practical looking knives.

Thanks for clearing that up, Larry. So many Schrades, so many models and variations. Makes for fun.
