I'm sending a couple of my knives as gifts to folks new to one-hand opening knives.

Need some help to get some diagrams for opening knives with thumb studs/disks. I recall that my CRKT came with one but being the careless fool I am promptly chucked it away with the box. Can anybody help with a pic or scan which I can printout?

Appreciate any help in this,

I think Benchmade has short video clips on their website showing how to open and close their knives. If your friends have computer access, a video is worth a thousand diagrams.

I normally just say, hold the handle, rotate the blade out with your thumb. It naturally occurs to them that you put your thumb on the opening apparatus and push it out.

Spyderco includes a diagram in the box.

If you can find a Gerber EZ out on a blister card in Sprts Authority, etc., I think they have a diagram on the back.

Thanks all. Appreciate the help.

This is part of my small crusade to spread some quality knives around and make more of us knife nuts. Just wanted to give them the right start since I find it a lot harder to describe than demonstrate how to open and close a one-hander. This and nighmares of getting a call that somebody closed the blade on his hand and was missing a few fingers...
