I am looking for a gents folder that
-the blade must be under 2.5"
-one hand opening
-Wooden handle(inlay) will be sweet.

I really like Mnandi except for the blade length. Can Tom Krein shorten the blade too? Any suggestions on those knives?

-Spyderco Kiwi Blade: 2 3/8", VG-10, lockback
-Spyderco Kopa Blade: 2 7/16", VG-10, lockback
-Nemesis IMP Blade: 2.13", VG-10, linerlock
-Lone Wolf “Paul® Presto” Blade: 2.4", 400 Series high-carbon stainless steel, Axiel lock
-Lone Wolf "Paul® Perfecto" Blade: 2.25", 400 Series high-carbon stainless steel, Axiel lock
-spyFOX Blade: 2 1/8, N690Co, Frame lock
-Morris friction folder

Thanks!!

Every thought a custom friction folder?
Something like this (2.2" blade):

From production knives, Copa is very good, high quality choice. Getting wood inlay might be time taking though when they cycle various materials.

Out of your list I own only Kopa. Sweet knife, great ergos and cuts like laser. Kopa Cocobolo is in my watch pocket as we speak.

Thanks for your replies. That morris friction folder is quite nice. How is the blade made out of the metal file? I just have no idea what to expect.

I totally forgot about the kiwi! Thank you!! Just added on my list. Also
added ag's 2.5 ti folder with wood handle.

Keep it coming guys!

I also have a michael morris friction folder. the steel can rust so keep it oiled. mine came razor sharp and hasn't lost an edge in the couple weeks ive had it. i highly recommend it. also get a kiwi.

Boker Subcom and ask some handy knifemaker to replace the FRN slab with wood - I've seen pictures like that here.

I have 2 Kiwis and 2 Kopas. I like the Kiwi, but it is on the small side. I just checked it again, and it was easy to open with one hand.
I can manage it with the Kopa. If one handed opening is something that you want, then the Kopa is a better choice.
I don't know if you can still find one with a wood insert - perhaps if you look around.
They are both well made with VG10 steel blades. I wouldn't consider anything smaller than the Kopa if you want to have one-handed opening, and I wouldn't consider "400" series steel in the same league as VG10.
You might also consider the Moki knives - Moki made the Kiwi and Kopa and they are very well made. Some of the Mokis are going to fit your size requirements, but they are not one-hand opening.

-ag Russell 2.5 ti folder Chinese quince. Blade 1 7/8, vg-10

-Nemesis IMP Blade: 2.13", VG-10

Thanks!!

I have both of these. Both are nice small knives. The A.G. Russell is not a one-hand opener, but the Nemesis is. Neither one is particularly robust. The Russell is noticeably slimmer than the Nemesis.

edit: You may want to take a look at the SpyFox from Fox Cutlery on the A.G. Russell website. It looks like it meets your criteria, but I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet.

not exactly what youre looking for, but i'm going to suggest a stainless poliwog. the ergos on it are surprisingly great. I got it because where I got to school has a stupid 2.5" or less blade limit. the stainless does look really classy though.

you could aslco get a subcom/wharcom and get some custom wood scales made for it. the same goes for almost any other knife as well.

I have had the Imp and the Kiwi and I would say get the Kiwi. I think they were $60 where I ordered it from which is a steal.

I just updated the first post to show only the one-hander with wood somewhere that are under 2.5in. Again thank you all for your inputs. I have poliwog(g10) and ladybug and they are nice for what they are intended for.
foxSPY looks classy and futuristic at the same time! very cool. I don't know how I missed the one.

I am amazed no one recommended the Paul knife. I guess the sensitive (based on what I read here) locking system drives people away.. Otherwise they look like a terrific knife.

I think the Paul knife looks pretty classy. I've considered picking one up several times but could never quite talk myself into it.
