One hand opening of Mnandi

The one thing I have not liked about the Mnandi has been the lack of a thumb stud or hole. Last night I was thinking about it and the thought occured to me (it does happen once in a while), do people use the slit like a hole? Is it big enough for my thumb to catch and are they on both sides? It would be a great office knife. Steven
 
I CAN open my Mnandi one handed. It took a wee bit of practice to do, but it CAN be done.
 
Works fine for me.the action is so smooth that it can be used just like a stud or hole.
 
I think the Mnandi thumb recess whas designed with one-handed opening in mind!

Never had any problems whatsoever opening my Mnandi with either hand.
 
I had to be careful I didn't push against the sharp edge (ouch!) in the final stages of opening as the blade is not as wide as a seb. Otherwise no problems opening one handed.

The Mnandi was designed with a nail nick for style, and the mechanics for one hand opening. It was a very creative and innovative design on Chris's part.
 
I carry a Mnandi everyday and always open it one handed. Great EDC knife!

Jess Horn (on his Spyderco C27 collaboration) Bob Lum, Bob Dozier and possibly others were all using an overside nail nick as an opening device for years before the Mnandi was produced. Nothing against Chris, but I thought this should be mentioned.
 
Yes, the nick is on both sides of the blade. I found that I liked using the tips of the thumb and the middle finger both to start opening the blade, and then keep rolling the thumb to finish opening. Great little knife!
