A pretty simple video here of how I make a one handed fire using my BK11

How is this useful? It's really not all that useful unless your one handed or something happens like you cut your hand so bad that you can not use it. More then anything its just fun to challenge yourself.

Good stuff Widerstand. I have seen the step on the knife handle one handed fire, but this one is new to me.

Good to know, incase of injury....

Also sometimes its just fun to try things like this.

Fire! I like it. I have to say, sometimes I take having two hands for granted.

As with most things if you can get it done with less it makes it that much more easy when you have more.

Very nice! as always...great video, I'm still liking the jimping.

Yeah I really dig the jimping.

As a guy with a currently healing thumb, I'd applaud you (if it didn't hurt). Cool video!

Thanks!

Hey Wider, thanks for the vid... Great idea to hone your skills for better preparedness.. like its also a great idea to sometimes train your weak hand for general chores (just in case)..

Should we be expecting a video of you batoning with one hand anytime soon?? :D

take care,

Ha, I don't think ill be batoning one handed anytime soon.

At first I thought it was silly to even try... But it's actually really cool to make fire using only one hand!! Good job!!

Yeah that's a fairly easy part.

hmmm. maybe I'm over thinking this, but without a second hand it might be difficult to create shavings.

you would have to prop it up against your chest or back of knee something that would allow you to get some leverage and even that might kinda hurt

Well all my tinder was some dry grasses and some small twigs from a dead tree.

Very cool, thanks for the video... another reason not to where cowboy boots, as if there weren't enough already.
