i just brought a leatherman juice s2 (link ) for my EDC.

I also have a Leatherman Wave 2004 and I really got used to opening the knife with one hand but it's too big and heavy for a EDC.

I was wondering if it's possible, or if anyone, has modded the blade on the juice s2 so that it can be opened with one hand?

maybe sodering something to the edge?

Nice looking leatherman. You certainly could try soldering a thumb-catch on, but I've personally never heard of such an operation. My current leatherman blade is a real son of a mother to take out.

yea i was thinking of that.
however, i don't know if solder will stick to stainless steel. plus i'm wondering how much a thumb-catch would interfere the blade's poking ability because it's already small as it is.

also, leatherman is an amazing company. i e-mailed them asking them if i can swap my orange s2 for a gray one by mailing it to them and they said i could. :D

well, soldering would ruin the blade temper too, I guess (too hot).

I've been thinking about picking up either the Juice C2 or S2. Can you flip open the pliers like a balisong? Just curious.

I had a PST years ago and the pivots were too stiff to flip open. I don't know what happened to my PST, lost forever I suppose. :(

Nope, but with a little practicve, you can grab it by one handle, use your thumb to push the other handle open a bit, then "wipe" it on your leg to open it the rest of the way.

Oh, and it's not stiffness in the pivots, the pivots have a fairly strong detent. I've got a half dozen Juices, and they all open up smoothly, just hafta get over that detent.
