I have an all stainless steel Leatherman Sidekick which is pretty good for me, but it is slippery, has a few things I don't ever use, and is never going to "break in" for one handed plier use. So I'm interested in getting a new multitool that fits the following description:

Requirements:
Contains pliers which can be open and closed one handed.
Contains a saw blade.
Weighs 8 oz or less.
Budget friendly.

Bonus: Not stainless steel handles, but something with grip.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

While just a little bit heavier than 8oz, the Leatherman OHT is a good option for one handed pliers. Has a saw and most other tools on a typical leatherman. Not sure of your budget but they can be found for under $100.

The Leatherman OHT is good if you need one handedness for your pliers and tools. The pliers are spring loaded so they bias a bit to the open position. To open they slide right out from the closed position, also have a little lock to keep them closed. Fairly easy to work that one handed too. The grips are aluminum I think. Kind of grooved with the shapes of whatever tool is in that position. The blades and saw are a bit shorter than a Wave or Charge. Pliers are a bit bigger than those two. Also a bit bulkier, but I think they all weigh about 8.6oz. The OHT also cannot utilize the bit kits, which might be what I use my leathermans for the most these days.

When I carry a Leatherman on my belt it's the Charge, a Wave stays in my Range bag, the OHT i keep in my glove box.

Also check out the Leatherman Free P4. I have no experience with it but the pliers can open one handed. Its also a little pricier.

There are some Gerber models that work like this- the pliers slide out so they can be opened/closed one-handed.

Thanks folks, I'll take a look at these options.

Gerber multi tool.

Only issue is, the pliers come straight out, without the handles separating, what that means is.
If what you are gripping with the pliers slips out or off, the handles slam together.
Convenient as hell, but after more than 10 years of use I had at least, 5 or 6 blood blisters, a couple all the way across my palm from it.
So, be warned, seems like you could keep from it, but some how, maybe it's the price you have to pay for the convenience, not sure, just know it happens.
The older ones are way better, more weight, but a better tool.
