Hello,

I'm looking for a traditional style pocketknife that can be opened easily with one hand. Preferably blade between 2.5 and 3.75 inches, although I can consider anything up to 4.

Any thoughts? Price under 100 is ideal, but if you know of any mildly above that pricepoint post it just so I have mote options.

Thanks y'all.

Case Russlock, queen Q-tac.
Queen woodsman. But I'm not sure if we r allowed to discuss these as the have thumbstuds and thumbstuds knives are not allowed in this forum.

Interesting note there, I didn't know thumbstuds we're banned. I'm personally fine with thumbstuds, but I can move this post if this is not a good place for it.

Technically GEC makes the "razor" style one armed man blades.

"Easily opened with one hand" is up for interpretation, though.

Balisongs are about the only traditional knives that can be easily opened and closed with one hand.

A Buck 110 can be pinched by the blade, and the handle "dropped" open with a flick of the wrist.

This will probably do better in General Knife Discussion, since thumb studs are don't meet the definition of traditional that we use in this forum. I'll move it there.

Thank you, and I appreciate all the help I've gotten. I'm sure I'll make it back to this sub-forum soon :)

These are some that I find easy to open with one hand.

Higonokami type knives are one hand opening traditionals.

Personally I'm partial to then "one armed bandit" type knives which have a little place on the blade thay has a hook shape at the tip. You catch this semicircular cutout at the tip against something like the seamnof your pocket to open the knife one handed.

This feature sounds like the Emerson wave: is that what you are thinking of, or am I mistakenly? I'm fairly new to knives so the latter is likely.

In any case, do you know of any traditional blades that have this feature?

It is kind of like a wave, but on a different part of the blade.

If you search google images for one armed bandit knife you will see many pictures of what I mean. The knives look kind of like a razor blade. The wave is the cutout at the tip of the blade, rather than the spine.

The one arm bandit type of knife has the end of its blade shaped like an old fashioned straight razor.
They were designed for amputee civil war veterans to be able to still open their knives.

I would go with a friction folder like a higo or svord peasants knife, because they're truly opened with just your hand.
You could also get a knife with a bail or lanyard hole and blade that sits proud enough to be pinched.
You can attach it to one of those retractable key fobs that clip to your belt loop, then you just grab the knife by the blade with you're thumb and index finger then pull and you'll be pulling the knife open.

Since nobody has mentioned the Victorinox SAKs that are designed for potential one hand opening, I'll mention. These are generally the larger Vics with the hole. The One Handed Trekker and Sentinel come to mind.

Those might technically be eligible for the porch, but they don't really have the traditional style and charm that's making him want something traditional over any of the thousands of modern folders out there.

The case mini copper lock and buck 112 are pretty easy to open by just pushing your thumb on the blade as though there were a hole or thumb stud

Just providing options. It is up to the OP to decide but SAKs are consistently one of my favorite users. The larger ones have about a 3" blade.

Some of A.G. Russell's traditionals are designed so that they can be opened one-handed using the nail nick, which is one he designed to facilitate one-handed opening. They are sold under the A.G. Russell brand and the fact that they can be opened one-handed is mentioned in the description.
