I received my "One-Handed Trailmaster" from the Cutlery Shoppe (CS) yesterday. Perhaps, the marketing name in Europe might be the "Military." It's probably the same knife.
I think the CS website mentioned that the OH Trailmaster was supposed to be a special run for the German army. The CS was able to acquire a small quantity of these limited SAKs and sold them out pretty fast. I think the CS then placed another order with the factory. It may become popular enough to warrant further production but I wouldn't chance that if you wanted one. Check out CS ASAP.
Like all Victorinox SAKs the OH Trailmaster is alot of knife for the money--I paid about $27 for the knife. I can thumb open the knife with either hand--in fact, I find opening/closing more efficient with the left hand than with the right (I'm right-handed). The screw driver also locks in the open position. The other usual tools make this a very versatile knife. In my opinion, although the handle is not the traditional red color (it is black), it is not overly tactical looking and could serve as a practical EDC.
One unusual feature--for me, anyway--is that the serrations on the main blade is located on the front 3/5-ths with a plain-edge the rest of the way toward the rear. This "unconventional" design may actually prove to be more practical than the conventional combo-edged blade with the serrations toward the rear. Field testing is in progress.
Another nice feature I like is that the main blade is centered between the handles. I like multi-tools but the knife blade is usually offset to one side or the other--Boo!
For more information (as James Y mentioned) see the recent issue of Tactical Knives. When I read that article this past Saturday, my first thought was sh*t now alot of people will be ordering this knife--and I haven't received mine yet. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the mailman yesterday.
