I have a one-handed trailmaster (or formerly called a trekker) and I'm wondering why the liner lock is opposite the typical arrangement.
Opening is ambidextrous, but..
I'm right handed and when I close the blade I cannot push the liner with my thumb and close it like I would my old leatherman wave. The liner has to be pushed the other way! :barf:

Why was it done this way?

Because of the worldwide Lefty-ist conspiracy! Even the slide locks on the other Vic lockblades are easier to use lefty. I love it of course, being a southpaw myself...

I think it´s just more convenient for them to make it that way since they have everything set up for placing the knife and screwdriver blades that way (machines set up for mass production of all their knives), the same happens with the sliding locks, for the trailmaster they interchange the knife with the saw, something easy to do without affecting the machines because the spring/blade setup is the same.

I´ll add that I have used both their liner and sliding locks right handed and find it quiet easy, I guess that once you get used to one way the other one may seem awkward, I´m more used to lockbacks and non-locking blades so I don´t automatically try to use a liner lock in a certain way.

So how do you close the trailmaster with your right hand? I can do it if I use my middle finger to activate the liner and then a leg to get the blade started. Maybe you have a better way?

I turn the knife around spine down, so the liner lock is upwards, then go over and across to place my thumb to the left of the liner and pull with my thumb to the right, normaly I use my left hand to hold the blade to close it, but it can be closed one handed too. By the way, the one I have is not the one hand opener and I guess mine may have a stronger spring.

Yep, that's what I do too, use my left hand or my leg to close the blade. Using a finger (to close the blade) in that position is just asking to slice the poor thumb on the liner, since static friction is much less than motional friction, if you know what I mean...
