You know, I know there arn't many who like CS any more, But I just came acrost a picture of a CS recon scout. Are they any out there who use one?
I know most of us talk about the ranger, Becker, Rat seris, busses and every thing else.
So, did the recon scout have a full tang, or just a stick, and wearnt there problems with the handle material?

Just a quick thought as I haven't heard about on in a while.

I had one for a year or so and used it many times. It was a knice knife, kept a good edge and would do everything I needed. The handle was a little thin, which didn't bother me, but overall it was a good knife. Yes it did have a hidden tang, but still a very strong knife.

I only sold mine as I like knives and changed to something different. If I had kept it and used it since then, I believe it would still be going strong.

I have read of one breaking at the tang while battoning. I get the feeling some abuse may have occured but its something to bear in mind. If you do a search it was posted on this forum.

The story that is being referred to is this one:

You will have to read it for yourself, and come to your own conclusion. But, IMO these are the facts that came out of that story.
- The knife broke.
- CS did replace it.
- The photo of the break shows serious design flaws in the lack of radius used in the reduction from the blade to the tang.
- The rest is opinion.

I do not buy CS anymore. I think this is a decent knife, but not the quality of the ones you have already mentioned. I have no first hand knowledge of this, but I have heard reports that under heavy use the kraton has come loose enough on the tang to spin around. Again, second hand, not first hand.

I have heard of about 4 cases of the RAT series RTAK breaking, and they are considered pretty top shelf. If the price is right, give it a shot. Look at some of the cheaper ka-bars as well, great quality there.

Yeah, like I said the thought had just popped in while surfing around. I didn't think it looked that bad, and I think the one in that fellas post was a bad one out of the bunch.

Yes, those Ka-bar bowies are interesting.
