A little while ago, I posted that I had sold off my small collection to just one knife, a ZT 550. Well I carried that knife for a couple weeks, and realized that I was wrong. I got bored with it. I didn't not like it or appreciate it. It's a phenomenal blade. I just wanted a variety. So I found myself re-buying a Skyline to have a flipper, then a Blur to have an assisted knife, who knows what I will get next. Just wanted to share my learning experience with everyone.

You're just getting started. I've created, sold, and recreated practically my entire collection more than once. Very few of my knives have actually stood the test of time . . .

I have similar attitude: except I have never sold my whole collection to replace it with one knife. I have learned from watches: it does not matter how much I like my latest one, it is very difficult to stick with wearing just one month in and month out. I like variety, I am not going to stick to one EDC if I have choice!

You will never be happy with just what you have. When you get bit by the knife collecting bug, your best knife is always the next knife that you purchase...

All you can really do is to try and control the amount of money that you spend.

Now that's the voice of experience speaking. Problem is, the longer I'm in this game, the more expensive my knives get.

I tried a couple CRKs, and thankfully they weren't my thing. I do like Striders, however. Not only that, but I've started to take notice of different custom makers as well. Talk about expensive. I'm attempting to stick to more affordable options, at least for the time being.

I've done more than take notice of custom knives. I've started buying them. And if you're anything like me, with very few exceptions, only high-end production knives will get your attention once you start buying customs.

I try and I try.....still not working:D

I've downsized, upsized, given up, sold, and traded my collection over the years.
Now I'm comfortable with the size and the variety I have.
Though I still want more lol.

Monogamy is reserved for marriage.

I got one woman. I got many knives.

^^^ Well said.

I don't sell any of my knives, I love all if them.

From a $40 Tenacious to $400+ Customs, I just really enjoy having an abundance of choices.

But don't worry, ull start off slow for right now but then ull start purchasing more and more lol.

You folks amaze me, I can't bring myself to downsize, so I just get more cases to put 'em in :)

I am the same way. I have a 20 dollar knives and a 300 dollar custom and refuse to sell any of them.

The only knife i ever sold was a spyderco delica because my brother really needed a new blade. Much more then me.

I'm a knife stockpiler. I just can't seem to let go of them, and acquire new ones all of the time. I could get by with only one, but that wouldn't be very fun.

I'm also a knife stockpiler. But I seem to stockpile different knives at different times. And I don't have any reluctance to sell some knives in order to buy others.

Same never sell only buy, the strategy might work better with real-estate than knives, but I can only afford knives so that's what I am doing.
