One last question.

I've found anything with an Axis Lock (like the 943) is fast to open.

I have a Mini Skirmish and prefer the Axis knives....

BM model 943 because of the axis lock... and the handle... and the steel...and because it is just sooooooooo beautiful:-)

Is there any blade play in the 943? Also, it is easily flicked, correct?

Usually it depends on how loose you keep the blade weather there is blade play or not. Usually if you tighten it a little bit(unless it comes with none) it will go right away imo. I have a 942 and the mini-skirmish and like the 942 more. Its basically the same as the 940 just diff blade shape. Just comes down to what you like more. The are really completley diff knives.

The mini skirmish has a heavier blade so that should help you flick it open pretty quick. The 943 would carry better as it's more streamlined. The skirmish would offer a more secure grip. And the 943 would give you a pointier tip. Also, the skirmish is tip down, the 942 tip up. -Tough call, but I might be inclined to get the skirmish and have it altered to tip up. Either way, you can't really go wrong.
