after a couple of hours spent with the new belt sander, i felt confident enough to take the rear talon hole off my skinny. took a while, even with a new 80 grit belt but i think it turned out pretty good. certainly much better while chopping, but i think i may take a little more off or angle it back further later.

Looks like a good mod, no more "busse pinky"?

still get a little bit which is why i'm thinking of taking the angle there back a little further, but it's not as bad as it was.

Looks good,,,,, I'd concider stripping the rest of the spine an handle

yeah, but then i'd have to polish it (i know the skinnys look pretty bad underneath) and that's a lot of work. it's a user. i'd rather leave as much coating as possible on.

I think he meant just strip/polish the spine. I agree, that polishing the flats with the CNC grind marks and dimples is a ridiculous amount of work.

Nice mod, any chance you will be rounding the butt off so that it looks a bit more like a straight handle (sort off):

The pic has the curve I mean at the butt only it's upside down if that makes sense? I'll try some photochop magic tomorrow if this doesn't make sense.

Hey Silver...go ahead and make a bird's beak so you can call it a BBASH!

ETA...ahhh...totally not possible. D'oh!

To each their own, not something I would have done but it's nice that you decided to do your mod to your knife. I'm sure you'll love it even more now.

Nice Job man! I like it...

One thing for sure... now that you have a grinder your life has changed forever. You will never look at a knife the same way again since you now how the power to change them quickly. I've modded several of my Busse's. For me, putting a bit of work into them really makes you appreciate them more.

thanks for the comments.
for the moment i'm not planning on doing anything more to them except maybe taking the inside back a little further. if i do further mod the butt, it'll be to flatten that curve out, although it might take quite some time and some more 80 grit belts

i know what you mean. there's lots of little mods i've been wanting to so for a while now. unfortunately some of the knives i've wanted to do them on have since been sold.

Here's my photchop attempt at what I meant earlier by a Straighthandle butt.
