Just thought the product in the following article was kind of a silly idea. Maybe it's just me.

Geez.... First bread, then salami and cheese, now apples! What next watermelons? How do I tell my wife the real reason I own all these knives is because I LIKE them? HeHeHe...

To quote a "friend" that I know as a response, "I don't need anybody to help me wipe my own ***"

but seriously I'm just thinking that it is pretty pathetic that somebody would actually BUY something like that, but then again I bought the Pocket Fisherman.

I don't understand, why would anyone slice apples? The way we eat them is, we hold them between our hands, crush down, and suck the juice out between our thumbs. How do YOU eat apples ... ?

Just one of the steps on the path to ultimte laziness

i was gonna say something here but,as my brother says "silence speaks volumes".

Okay, so pre-sliced apples removes one reason for owning knives, but it balances out!
Because now we can ADD a reason.
Removing all the people too lazy to slice their own apples from the gene pool!

What's next? Pre-chewed food?

Sliced apples are used when one makes apple pie.

Just so I'm clear, here -- none of you has ever bought sliced coldcuts, or grated parmesian cheese, right? You buy a hunk of meat or cheese and slice or grate it yourself, right? Everyone buys whole loaves of bread exclusively, right? No bags of bread slices in the shape of a loaf?

The difference is that you have to cut the aforementioned products to make them small enough to be useful to most of us. Most of us don't eat entire turkeys, wedges of cheese, or loaves f bread at once. I, for one, eat WHOLE apples when I eat apples. I see the point that you were trying to make, but this situation is quite different.

I can understand the appeal to caterers (it wouldn't be fun to slice a thousand apples, would it?), but for everyone else it is sheer impracticality.

almost like the pre-packaged cereal with a carton of milk and a plastic spoon, the people who buy this will likely be the ones who need it least and really can't afford it.
