One more of a myriad of sharpening questions

Okay... this one is relatively simple.

I need to sharpen my kerambit. Leather strop's are not an option, as I have been unable to find sharpening compounds and will not be around long enough to wait for one to ship. Nor do I have a belt sander, and I am not about to buy one.

Which leaves sand paper and stones. And only sandpaper and stones unless its an item you would expect to find in the house of some broke college students.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I sharpen my knives first using a metal file then use 600 grit sandpaper to get a good sharp edge. If you really want to get it sharp you can continue after the 600 grit sandpaper and use higher grits.
