the kydex sheaths that kabars have as an option, do they lock the knife in or rely on friction fit or only the snaps to hold the blade in place??????
anyone know???
thanx:confused:

I have next Gen fighting knife from Ka-Bar and it is my only Ka-Bar with a Kydex sheath so I can only speak for it. It uses friction and a strap at the guard as well as a strap further up the grip. This must be the most secure sheath I have seen. It is the best factory Kydex I have seen. I wouldn't change anything on this and I would not be afraid to carry it without the straps. SOG should take a look at this for their SEAL 2000, which I feel has a poor sheath for retention.

The kydex sheath that came with my next generation knife has a rubber ring that slips over the pommel.

I don't know if the current model has the same sheath.

I wasn't crazy about the kydex sheath so I use a leather sheath from one of my other Kabars.

For regular outdoor camping use it's fine but if used for hunting the kydex eccos loudly when it branches rub against it.
