I`m bringing this up again to remind those of you who place orders to please check your email! I`m getting tired of not receiving emails from customers after I email them that I`m ready to start, please confirm that you are ready to pay. If this continues, I will no longer take orders.

I checked. no email from you sir (though wasn't expecting one since I think mine is in January or feb lol. don't get to discouraged. the main problem right now is probably the holidays and that probably ate up a lot of folks money. not saying they should ignore you, as that is shitty and they should have planned better knowing December is Christmas time but still. please continue taking orders though. It seems that works out well for you since your all the way up to march already :)

If someone decides they don`t want their order, or want to push it back, that`s no problem. I just want to know what`s going on. I am going to start to take non refundable materials payment when they order something that`s not standard, like an unusual material size, or a handle material that is not popular.

sounds like a good idea, like it better the not being able to order anymore. must be really frustrating for you though.

Start doing that. People get busy, but to spend the time picking out materials and talking with you about what they want and then not getting back to you is baffling. The knife you are making isn't yours, it's theirs!

If you are having problems getting people to communicate then I think you should absolutely do this.

Please guys respond back. This is Johns business and how he takes care of his family. Treat it with respect. Not bitching at anyone but communication is key. There are so many makers out there that could be accused of poor communication but John is not one of those guys. Give him what he gives back. Rant off. :)

Each morning, when I read my emails and get cancellations, I`m getting one step closer to stopping taking orders.

I would just take deposits on orders. It's not like you are like some of the other makers who have these long waits. Your turnaround is pretty darned quick and I certainly would not feel apprehensive about paying a deposit on a request.
