Hey guys, I'm gonna attempt to round off my collection for awhile (I'm in college and really, I mean really, can't spend too much more on blades) so I have 6 modern folders and 6 traditional folders. Heres what I have right now for traditionals: Case Sodbuster Jr., Rough Rider 893, Victorinox Soldier alox, and a Buck 55 (Wish I would've got the 112). I'm going to ask my little brother to get me an Opinel 6 for xmas (something he can afford).

Anyways for my last traditional (For awhile at least) I would like a sub $50, single blade, 3" traditional, and a brand other than the aforementioned ones. Please recommend away!!! Thanks!!!!

Hmm, the only thing that comes to mind right now that meets your criteria would be a Tiny Toothpick (some might be a hair larger at around 3 1/8" or so). They are available from various mfgs. in a multitude of handle materials and are usually very reasonably priced - For example: if you shop around, some of the Queen versions should only set you back a little over half your budget.

Thanks for the reply! I'm gonna me quite honest, I don't know if I really like the handle style. I think I'm looking for something similar (But doesn't have to be exactly) like these:

Case produced a Small Saddlehorn with a single blade in Kentucky Bluegrass bone but, IIRC, it was around 3 1/2" or 3 5/8" (and a little over your price limit as well).

I think I found something I really like:

No, to other brands. Get a full size CV Sodbuster. May have to stalk it on ebay..

I own one just in case my several dozen other knives all vanish in a tragic boating accident.

CASE Mini Copperlock is a very decent slim knife indeed. But it is over your 3" limit .Well worth getting especially in the new Caramel Bone or 2nd Cut Antique bone which have Union shields instead of the rather dull CASE oval shield.

Rough Rider's Old Yellow series is not to be sneered at either, they do a 3" Barehead Lockback in this. Good luck with your future collecting and studies.

Queen has a single blade Copperhead that is a little longer (3 3/4") that may interest you and it can be had for around $42 delivered. If you want something smaller they have a two blade Serpentine Jack (3 1/4") for $45. The handles are aged honey amber stag bone, which looks very nice to me, and the blade steel is D2.

BTW, if you do run across a knife that is like an R. Bose that is under $50, let me know because I want one!

Try the Case copperlock in the Pocket Worn Carmel Bone, It's near your price and it looks really nice, I think you would be happy with that color, the sheild on it does look good, Just as(Willgoy) stated before. I have one and I like it alot.

I think that is a good choice especially if you want a locking blade. Then again, I have currently contracted a very bad case of Copperlockitis. They do make a blue work knife in the pattern that is available for less than $40. It isn't as pretty as that Bermuda green, but otherwise the same knife.

I just picked up a USA Schrade and a Buck 310 on the big auction site for a total of less than your budget total, shipped. Neither are new, but the one that I have received so far is in excellent condition. I have seen some single blade Buck's and Schrades as well listed there.
