Here is something you don't see very often: A prototype out of the Benchmade factory of a model that never went into production. This knife hasn't seen the light of day in 12 years. And if you don't buy it, you may never see it again because it's the only one that exists.

It's a Benchmade Model 612, a dandy little Crawford design, a nice little utility sort of blade of ATS-34 with a thumb stud, a typical Benchmade pocket clip, and a sturdy liner lock. It's about 6.75 inches open, 4.75 closed with a ATKI blade length of just about three inches. It weighs 644g.

But, what makes this one so special is the experimental Teal Splatter finish which was never put into production. The back of the blade is marked "Prototype 1999."

It's in mint, NIB condition and comes with the specially-labeled box which is in good condition. There was no sheath with this knife, so I put it in a nice after-market red felt pouch.

This sort of true prototype rarely escapes from the Benchmade factory. I really don't know what it's worth since I've never seen anything like it sold. I'm asking $400 + S&H (insurance is mandatory).

I'm sorry, but I am not a PayPal member; please don't bother asking. For a Domestic Cashier's Check or US Postal Money Order, I will ship within a day or two. Personal Checks and foreign remittances are held until my bank says they are clear; for domestic personal checks, this is typically about five days, but foreign instruments depend entirely on your bank and may take a long time. As always, I will gladly refund your payment upon receipt of the returned knife is good order if you are not satisfied for any reason.
