What initially drew me to this subforum was the idea of getting a knife created exactly to my specifications.

There aren't very many truly custom knife makers around here, but I know there are many one of a kind knives made by John's hands.

I think it would be cool to see some of the one off knives that are floating around here, and show off some of the diversity of John's knife making talents.

This is my first custom knife, made from a piece of cardboard that I sent John in the spring of 2012.

Great looking knife. I'm actually thinking that's going to be in the line up but with a 4.5in blade.
Thanks for sharing.

Besides the Scanduckie?

I think the Kitchen knife / paring knife combo may be a one -off - I can't remember seeing another set (or singles of these...)

I believe I have the only Small Simple Scandi -

This was John's first Scandi - he just called it a Scandi Passaround Knife - several of us had the opportunity to play with this one, and then John gave it away to the person with the best review -

I don't remember seeing any other Combat/Survival kits -

I hope that this changes someday soon, but as of right now there is only one XD XT Tactical Bowie in the wild.

I do know that Coopers knife in the first post was the most comfortable handle I can remember on a JK - it really feels great in your hand.

There has been one more kitchen knife (red micarta) and one parer (ebony), otherwise you are correct. I must have 20 patterns of one offs in the shop.

I've bought several JK's that I believe are one of a kind.

The Green River

The Osage Skinner

A Custom I designed

A Combat - not sure if this one is actually one of a kind, but I believe it is the only one made in this size, with the grind and the wood/micarta handles

I think the HD Camp & Trail was a one of a kind

The Hidden Tang was also a one of a kind but I can't find a picture of it.

I also bought a Rhino that I believe was one of a kind, but have no pictures of it.

The RUSK wasn't a one of a kind, but I do think it was 1 of 2 ever made (no pictures of it either).

I do own the ebony paring knife.

I believe I have the biggest & baddest one off JK.
The last one John made for udtjim & donated by his son & fellow JK supporter Rob Babcock for Hanna's cause.(thanks again Rob:thumbup: :))
Luckily for me nobody bought it after it sat on the ex for 2 or 3 weeks & I was able to scrape together the bucks & snag it for myself.

The ChopMuk!

It's a wood eattin' son of a gun.

Here with Tool #1 after my first chopping session with it last spring.

Unfortunately I didn't know Jim myself, but I do know he was well respected on the forums and a big fan of John's knives & I am proud to own his last JK.
RIP udtjim.

And I musn't forget this little guy John Gave away for his last Thanksgiving GAW.
For a left hand chisel grind it sure cuts good.

Very cool knives so far, everyone.

Thanks for sharing.

If I remember correctly, the fish knife that I got in the spring is also a one of a kind.

What drew me was the great lineup John had back in 2010 & the fact I could get a knife made with 01 & not pay out the nose for it.

It's funny though,I've only had 3 knives out of the 2010 lineup, but thats because of all the great designs John & other members have come up with since then.

I love the Coopers Hawk btw, that & Peter's SwayBack. Both are so close, but with subtle differences.I'd love to add one or both to my collection someday.

I found pictures of the chisel grind, 1/4" thick combat - it has a false-bolster like Taht's combat shown above -

how could i forget sheepy! ah, well, they also have different handle materials though, that's something :D

Here is the 2013 Anniversary knife and my Otter Creek. The Otter Creek is far and away my favorite knife(and I have many knives). It is the perfect all around knife.

Two more one offs.

Im thinking there are more customer designs out there than John's.
Pretty close anyway.
How many other makers can say that?

There are some fantastic designs in this thread.

This is my favourite knife. I called it the Acek, and I designed it to provide a robust all-purpose knife for use on canoeing and backpacking trips. It has a combination edge with the front part of the blade convex ground with a secondary edge bevel and the back portion scandi-ground (for making fuzz sticks, cutting notches, etc). I like this blade so much that it has been causing most of my other knives to collect dust for several years.
